I couldn't find much, just that it's $8 per the application: https://www.dmv.nh.gov/sites/g/files/ehbemt416/files/inline-documents/dsmv450.pdf. She might have to just call the DMV.

Out of curiosity I looked up CO and they too require some form of license for a moped (or low powered scooter as they call it): "Owner/Operator must possess a valid driver license or minor driver license (42-2-103(2)(a) C.R.S.)."

Never seen a moped license, but most people I know with a moped have a regular drivers license. NH has moped plates, the whole process is done through the DMV -- extremely cheap to register them too. Definitely call the DMV and inquire there, best way to do it. Theres a moped shop in Portsmouth too, Port City Mopeds, and you could ring them and ask if they might know, but better off just calling the DMV.

Good question! The impact scale is geared towards how I'd expect most people to react here:

Low: Travel is manageable with proper precautions

Moderate: Travel is degraded, proactive road treatment on primary roads will offer some improvement

High: Travel is severely degraded, regardless of road treatment

Major: Travel is essentially impossible, regardless of road treatment

As always, love the forecast and your analysis. However, can you explain/clarify your descriptions on the commute/travel impact. What is low impact? Meaning drivers should be fine with caution? Moderate = go slower. ? Etc. For future forecasts.

The way the storm is shaping up it seems Tuesday afternoon will be terrible to drive in.

Thanks again

She survived CO winters so… it isn’t really my choice to tell her otherwise I am just trying to help her when she gets here.

Your friend doesn’t seem too smart if she thinks she’s gonna survive a New Hampshire winter without a car…

I looked up the average pay of a border patrol agent, not specific to NH and that’s what it came back with. I did see the figure you presented when I specified it to NH… regardless, my point is not about what a border patrol agent makes and how well off they are, it’s that $1.5M does not get you much these days. Also, that may be their pay, but their benefits are not included and with a state or federal position, that can be quite a bit. They trade off pay for pensions and good healthcare etc. it’s not simply what they get in their paycheck.

I do not have a vacation home. I own a 3br 1.5br ranch in sNH on less than a quarter acre. The avg home in NH is $440k. My house is nothing special, believe me and it’s worth just slightly more than the avg NH home. We are talking funding that is equivalent to my house and that of my two neighbors. Again, not much. I could have bought the whole neighborhood for $1.5M 30 years ago.

I don’t think there is some imminent threat at the border. But you also can’t just neglect it.
