Yep I just read a report last month I thought posted in this sub. but I can't find it.

That electric customers using a third party electricity vendors pay a premium of 4.8% or so in NH for electricity. That the predatory practices some electricity vendors use cost customers more. Sound like a good deal but the total cost of ownership is higher.

Vulture capitalism at its finest.

All the things you mentioned are reasonable and I have nothing against them. Dress how ever they want, in high school I painted my nails and got both my ears pierced as a guy which was not the norm back then. I still believe a decision that can change your entire life with no way to take it back or reverse it should wait til 18 years old. Removing body parts or organs or altering major things just based on how someone feels should wait til 18. If people want to make the arguments that 18 is when you can join the military and risk your life then 18 should be the standard across the board for most major things. Of course it’s different for life saving and medical necessity. Many people get tattoos at a young age and when they get older they regret it, this COULD happen with this kind of stuff to. Yes I agree your body your choice. If someone is determined enough sure they will find a way and just go to a state that approves of it. People make more dumb decisions as a teenager.

All those other methods are arguably anti consumer, designed to provide additional revenue to the company via processing fees or late fees(possibly). The only non fee method requires the consumer go out of their way to a retail location, in person which let's be honest, most people in 2023 won't do. That they removed the more convenient, fee free, consumer friendly option says everything to me and I agree with the op.

Since the “new and improved” change went into affect, had nothing but problems. Never had a single issue before. Now i am having to make my payment 10 days before due date to ensure I don’t get a “previous balance” show up on following bill.

Some very odd comments going on in this thread currently. New Hampshire is a safe place to live and raise a family. While people can be standoffish here, generally they are kind. I wouldn't anticipate any issues regarding your family status. Again, generalizing, but people here tend to leave others alone and not force their religious opinions on others. It is one of the least religious states in the country - for that reason it leans "progressive" on many social issues.

It is conservative here relative to the rest of New England. The weed thing is mostly a result of financial issues stemming from the tax dependence on state run liquor stores. Folks brought up that we've got a Republican governor. Vermont also has a Republican governor. In 2019, all governors in New England except for Rhode Island were in fact Republican. Political party affiliation matters little here.

Cost of living here is high due to high energy prices and lack of real estate development combined with high demand. COL almost certainly eats any tax savings you'd earn by living here compared to neighboring Massachusetts. Infrastructure and social programs are substantially better in MA. It is also much more liberal in every respect. It is cold in New Hampshire, brutally so at times. The road salt can eat cars quickly, so maintenance costs can be higher. People seem move here for the quiet and outdoors focused lifestyle. If that's not you, I'd take a closer look at some other states!

So....sex education and self care ARE taught in schools.

What do you mean by "jobs"? You want teachers to teach how to do a job? There's a name for that: college.

How would you suppose teachers teach how to do taxes? They teach algebra...that's more than enough math to handle filing taxes. Same with money. The tax code changes every year.

Emergency first aid and preparation? Most schools have a requirement for teachers to learn it. I suppose a day where an instructor shows the students how to administer first aid could be helpful in highschool. You don't need a whole semester for it.
