It's always better to have more money. Younger people always ask me how I made my money and it was that I got lucky and I worked hard, and I had a good support of wife who also worked hard. Although I grew up poor I had supportive parents who valued education and had high expectations. Not everybody had the same advantages as me, including being intelligent, and white and male, but mostly it was my parents who taught me hard work pays off.. I do agree that people spend the money they make instead of saving however. It's brutally hard for people once you get caught in the trap of debt. This is what I hate about the social media and the influencer culture, people need to stop buying more than they can afford

To add to this, in general going slower than you think you need to in Enfield, heading northbound right before the rest stop is a good time to prepare to coast and NOT use your brakes. I've seen many accidents coming down that hill from people who try to brake to control their speed going down, and wind up on the guardrail or in the ditch.

Couple of things:

I’m from Massachusetts, but to me, I’m a New Englander and will go where I please. When I’m in nature, I’m “leave only footprints” when I’m on the mountain I abide by the code. And that’s me.

I don’t really like that it seems trendy now on social media to lean into the bad “Boston and its suburbs” stereotypes and those people can kick rocks.

I honestly was up there twice in the last few weeks and saw more CT plates than anything, and let’s be real, those are probably Manhattan/Westchester people descending on the upper New England like the locusts they are.

I go to the mountain when I have time and it’s almost always a weekday. But I look at the weather and research the conditions, I’m the type that thinks a bad day on the mountain beats a good day anywhere else and I’ll still enjoy the hell out of less than ideal conditions. But if I go on a rough day, that’s on me.

This is all coming from someone that will likely live in NH by the end of the decade and won’t be taking the Masshole with them if I can help it.

I have been commuting from 12 to 18 for over three years. Currently at work now. There is a definitely a microclimate by the rest stop. There are a lot of unexpected snows that I came across. The most different part is the speed of other vehicles on 89. They are consistently 15-20mph over the speed limit even in shitty conditions. I feel like 89 is worse than 93 when it comes to shitty drivers. 93 just comes to crawl a lot. So maybe that’s why you don’t notice the shittiness.

Flight is my all time favorite. Their roasts are amazing, and they have a constant selection of single origin coffees that burst with flavor. Their mail order is fast and they have a location in Bedford.

Tandem Coffee in Maine is also a top notch roaster, and they do mail order as well

Cafe Monte Alto in Plymouth does some very nice roasts as well.
