For the same reason the min wage is still $7.25 and you can't get good specialists for rare diseases here.

New Hampshire is like a father who does no childcare because he knows the mother will do it.

Many New Hampshirites don't care because they can get higher paying jobs, legal marijuana, and apppointments with rare disease doctors in nearby places.

I’m not saying to post things about other states. But to consistently hate the people who moved here from MA, who are literally keeping the state alive with their spending as the rest of the state dies off, is lame.

Having pre set fees is suspect as landlords may only deduct from the security deposit costs to repair damages beyond normal wear and tear. I wouldn’t sign anything, they are free to inspect and I’d say that them being there with you for an inspection is to your benefit but do not agree to fees not in your lease or not supported by receipts or quotes etc.

Refer to this site for more information specifically the “Moving Out Section”

We’re the only purple state in New England where Republicans still have power. Also, we don’t have initiatives at our disposal for direct legislation bypassing the dinosaurs in Concord. The initiative is how Maine got cannabis under the fascist LePage. The lack of the initiative in NH is honestly our biggest weakness as a state. It keeps those out of touch in check.

His mismanagement of federal funds is the reason the state is no longer receiving ERA, including $67 million in additional rental assistance.

The CAP program was a huge success for people weathering insane rent cost increases. More than two dozen states with such programs were able to secure federal funding so that full-time workers struggling to keep up with rent could get assistance. CAP would pay rents directly to landlords, so both the tenants and the owners of the property would be covered during Covid. Landlords got their money and tenants got to keep their homes.

Thanks to Sununu, the program is being shut down. While other states still manage to keep getting funding, Sununu misused $19 million of the ERA2 federal funding, which caused their request for an additional $67 to be denied the following year.

Tom Sherman, who ran for governor on the promise that such funds wouldn't be mismanaged, warned that misuse of ERA2 funding would lead to the state being cut off from future funding. And he was right.

Now New Hampshire tenants are screwed, while other states that correctly allocated their housing benefits will recover additional funding.
