Yeah, 19 Mile Brook is not really a wind/visibility concern. The cold at the hut is though, so definitely make sure you have warm enough gear for the bunkhouse.

Maybe this will push prices down over time. I suspect its impact will be limited due to landlords, especially corporate ones. I don't think they have many incentives to sell their property.
I'm taking out of my ass a bit, because I don't know how much of the US, or NH housing marking its controlled by mom-and-pop landlords, or corporate landlords.
My biggest hope is that high prices incentivize builders to produce more housing, assuming NIMBYs can get out of the way.

Shit, my house has gained $100k in value since we overpaid by $100k in late 2021. I keep expecting the market to tank, but it's like we're in a weird island market but without a water constraint.

I have my yard sprayed. Get someone who uses stuff that is safe for other animals! I have a 6 year old son and it’s worth getting the yard sprayed. Also have a dog. We live in the middle of the woods so we do have a lot of ticks. Took my dog for a walk and pulled 6 off her just in a 10 minute walk this last summer. Just check for ticks anytime your outside before coming inside and you should be fine..

I mean, I wouldn't place that high up on my list of things to do either. She's better off going late Saturday into Sunday when Sunday's highs climb 20 degrees higher

We have a fenced yard with horses next door and our dogs used to bring in a lot of ticks when there were shrubs and weeds coming in through the fence. We removed all of the weeds/trees from the fence line, keeping it all well mowed, and added a gravel path between our fence and the horses. I'm happy to say that we didn't see a single tick this past summer. I am a big believer in the gravel barrier now. Good luck!

Hey, the chair was already facing the doorless bathroom when I moved in. Plus do you expect me to just sit on the floor?

If she and her group are adequately prepared, then I think that section of the hike isn't impossible. My main worry is actually blowing snow reducing visibility & obscuring trail markers. The girl Sotelo who perished on the Franconia Ridge succumbed to that exact issue.

You know all those highway signs they have up that say some variation of “winter storm, plan ahead?” They’re talking to you.

This fares well for my desire to go xc ski at Gunstock or Wolfeboro again. I haven't tried Harris in ME either, but might be enough snow there too
