Reply to Saw the D&D movie today. It ended up being pretty okay, better than I'd expected. Not going to win an Oscar. but it was fun, scary at moments, engaging and definitely worth the time and money. If you're into that stuff at all, def a good to see. by circular_file
I had a good time with it too! It felt nice to see a 2 hour action adventure movie where you didn't need to see a bunch of movies before it or be aware of any lore. Just a fun romp. Definitely a movie I'd throw up on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Both groups learnt a lot from watching films as well and I've liked many of them.
But there's just something impressive about the likes of Denzel, Hopkins and Olivier in the way they move in a scene and face other actors that you just know was cultivated on the stage in acting school and in theater.

Weird question but are there any parts that are not in English? I'm in mexico and usually if theres a foreign language part the subtitles are still in spanish so i dont always get what theyre saying.

Gun fu is new to films because it has only been around since the 80s, and popularized in the west through The Matrix franchise.

I think Jack Nicholson and Bette Davis are the best of the actors with no schooling that didn't start out when they were kids or teenagers. Most of the actors on the list who are not trained at school started working as minors and already had a foot in the door by the time they achieved success as adults.

I thought this might be a lot of fun if it were done right, and I'm hearing very good things about it, including from a good friend of mine. Looking forward to seeing it now.

My wife and I went to the sneak preview this afternoon and really enjoyed it. Lots of fun gags, creative creature designs, and well-done action sequences. My only complaint is that it felt too long, but it deserves to be a hit and I would happily see another installment. I think it'll have good WOM among families.

John Wick does nothing Hong Kong hasn't been doing since the 80s

How is it compared to the 2000 D&D movie?

I saw it back in October at a test screening and been trying to hold back my excitement for months now. Every movie I saw since October was never as fun as D&D, maybe Avatar 2 was the exception, but still. Nothing has been as fun of a movie in theaters since then. It was just great to have a fun, lighthearted movie at the time (around halloween if I recall) with jokes and a fun story. Going in blind helped a LOT. I'd say most of the movie is the same, it was unfinished in the VFX department mostly. Lots of temp cgi and storyboard scenes. Stuff with the bird creature was mostly storyboards at times. The dragon was mostly done because I think that must have taken the most time to do. Little things here and there like smoke effects weren't done but most of the actual film story and editing were done I'd say. It was a complete edit of the film
We all thought we were going to see Shazam 2 and BOY am I glad it wasn't that film lol

If you look up the book plot you'll understand a little more about why the movie feels off-huge changes were made to the third act.
