Reply to Saw the D&D movie today. It ended up being pretty okay, better than I'd expected. Not going to win an Oscar. but it was fun, scary at moments, engaging and definitely worth the time and money. If you're into that stuff at all, def a good to see. by circular_file
Honestly best fun in the theater I've had all year (sneak showing earlier today).
My only complaint was that the trailer ruined a few gags (but there were plenty more) and that there was zero Led Zeppelin.
Fantastic cameos as well. The movie has heart.

Gun Fu is a new style and type of filmmaking, and in that sense the genre has changed filmmaking and movies. John Wick happens to be at the forefront of Gun Fu. I get the writer and editor had an assignment to promote John Wick 4, but they should've picked different content to do that because the article actually does Gun Fu as a genre a disservice. I don't find the John Wick world-building to be that deep even taking into consideration the upcoming spinoffs, unlike Guillermo del Toro's stuff, LoTR, Harry Potter, etc.

Every very popular film changes movies forever. The for better or worse is a matter of opinion.

A lot of trailers, and I get that their point is to sell the film, are almost too good.
I would watch this movie, I did not enjoy watching the movie that actually got made.

Surprised Stray Dog doesn't have more representation, I guess people just default to the samurai stuff.

The biggest complaint I have, is similar to Kick-Ass, they put way too many good scenes into the trailer.

A friend of mine said he heard it’s “Monty Python and the Holy Grail with a $100mm CGI budget”. I scoffed, obv. So naturally we made a bet. Another friend will be the arbiter if we can’t agree.
I’m a lock to win, yes?

The only way John Wick would change movies in any form, would be if the Oscars actually added a best stunt category. World-building in films is nothing new.

I thought it was an absolute blast. I hope it does well so a sequel happens. It felt very much like the first small adventure of a larger campaign.

It's a great franchise, but these hyperbolic articles are getting old.

I guess it is stupid to tag a spoiler for a movie never made. My bad.

Man, I wish I was watching all of these for the first time again. The only other time I’ve experienced anything like the same rush of discovery was when I watched all the Sergio Leone movies in college. Enjoy!

I don't really see them as similar at all. Annihilation at least does interesting things, whereas Ad Astra is just boring and unnecessary.

Good movie, but I read the book before watching the movie and the movie was not anything like a faithful adaptation of the book. And unlike some adaptations which change things for good reasons (e.g. Lord of the Rings), I felt like in this case they could have done a better job of just doing what the book did, which was already largely good enough to be filmable.

Have you seen “The Flame and Citron” it takes place in occupied Norway and there are some very satisfying moments in there.
It would be like what happens if the Russians some how overwhelm Ukraine…

I mean, when I was at an Ark of the Covenant opening, there was a few Nazis there, (one with glasses) and they melted pretty much the way they showed in” Raiders”, so I’m not sure why you are saying it’s “too fake.”

Knight & Day. Not really an action fan (and even less of a Cruise fan) but this movie is so fast paced, utterly unrealistic in every way, yet completely entertaining.
