Honestly outside of what, Fast and Furious, ther hasn't been much viable even among attempted blockbusters. That's the real absurdity of it.

Good catch. I said pretty much haha. No. That movie is in like my top ten. Same as Star Trek: First Contact.
Shit you know what - i retract my statement. I still regularly revisit these films:
Congo, Chain Reaction, The Ghost and the Darkness, Air Force One, The Edge, U.S. Marshals, The Mummy, The Sum of All Fears. Hollow Man.

Huh? The song is awesome, nominated AND it’s the frontrunner.

Yeah. He compares them to theme parks, which seems fair to me. I just don't like the superhero aesthetic. I can't make myself interested in them. Probably the main exceptions being Joker (doesn't feel superhero) and Guardians of the Galaxy (focuses a lot on comedy)

We only had like 4 channels back in the 90s and no streamers like Netflix. If you wanted to watch an Adam Sandler movie you had to go to the theater or wait 6 months for the VHS. The other films you mentioned were spectacles like superhero movies are and/or based on well-known and loved material (The Queen bio included).
Seems like you are looking for evidence to back up your conclusion rather than working the other way around.

Avengers Endgame was the peak of the MCU. All the A list superheroes literally saving the universe. Disney should have taken a break for a while to save the brand.
However they didn't. To totally understand the future MCU movies, you had to watch several shows on Disney+ for it all to make sense. And these are not the familiar A list superheroes that a non Marvel super fan would know.
Therefore Phase 4 and beyond are diminishing returns and you will see more disappointing movies and poorly performing box office going forward.

Yes! Watts always comes to mindin this context as well. Another example is Rosamund Pike in certain sections of Gone Girl when it's portraying the fakely idealized narrative how her and Ben Affleck's characters got together.

i think the shelf life is going to be longer on something like this just due to it's existence on a streaming platform. With your example as a metric of success Breaking Bad would never had reached the heights it did. If Tony Gilroy sticks the landing on season 2 and can give another compelling and satisfying conclusion, it'll only bolster the show and hopefully, a lineage of what's to come. The future isn't Grogu, but it's certainly the easiest sell, but the empty calories opened the doors this so, fingers crossed.

It's important to attack the man, not the message. You've done a good job.

I actually liked it, but that comment was hilarious. Reminded me of Todd Barry's standup bit about how his doctor told he needed to eat more fruit. "You know the thing about fruit that they don't tell you? The dirty little secret about fruit? Fruit sucks."
I like fruit and enjoyed the A-team but both comments make me chuckle.

I’m not saying superhero movies aren’t the most guilty, I’m just saying they aren’t the only ones who are guilty. As the years go on there are more big names blockbusters that go on that keep making a shit ton of money, superhero movies obviously heavily included. I’m not saying superhero movies aren’t guilty of that cuz they definitely are, I’m just saying that they aren’t the only ones guilty.

The hyper concentration of trntpoles without a tent is a pretty recent phenomenon. Comparisons to westerns or whatever just don't really include context fornehst else was in theaters and the budgets and resources committed.

RRR received universal acclaim, like many North American films. And Naatu Naatu was a huge success, both among Indian and non-Indian audiences.
You shouldn't be so insecure about wider representation, it's not a good look.

It started out so darn strong, but then…
Mendelsohn was rock solid throughout though.

Honest question, how old are you?
There was a was a point in time when a far wider range of films genres and scales were viable. Movies "coexisting" didn't look like theaters canceling other movies to play Spider-man every 20 minutes for a month straight.
Go back and look at the top top 20 box office charts pre-2000.

Watching a movie and having it hold your attention are two entirely separate processes, and based on your post, I'm not surprised you conflate the difference.

While I think Andor is the best Star Wars story and Rogue One is the best Star Wars movie, Andor has underperformed compared to other Star Wars streaming shows. Which is why the bulk of SW will be fan service and rehashing of the OT.
