Reply to comment by Worthyness in Jackie Chan's last good movie? by Ebbemonster
Yeah, it's kinda a shitty deal, but I'll take what I can get. Apparently they're not especially fond of each other, and I know Jackie doesn't really think highly of Hollywood in general. I've wondered if Jackie agreed to do Forbidden Kingdom, because it didn't really "count" as a real movie in his eyes.

Reply to comment by Life-Stable-978 in In Titanic (1997), Suppose Rose stopped seeing Jack like her mother told her to. Would Cal have been abusive to her? by zsiple1998
I presume perhaps it's our age difference and life experience that causes us to think differently, if you don't see what I mean. I could try to see it your way, but I just don't. I've had this discussion with others, and they haven't said anything substantial to sway me, based on what the film presents. "Maybe" or "if that was me" don't absolve the given evidence when I judge Rose.
I'm not interested in sitting through the film to provide anyone with supporting points, either, so one can take or leave my assertions. She's all about her love of Jack, and everyone else can hang (including Jack, if we say there's room on that door for two). If that makes her a good person, so be it. But I find that to be a little reptilian.

Danny ocean is clearly the protagonist of oceans 11. Its his story, his crew, his target, his ex. We start the movie from his perspective, end it from his perspective. His name is literally in the title.

I was looking for an open captioning option originally, but none of the theaters in my area offered it that I could find. Lots have the cup holder devices though, but if it’s super laggy or mis-translates a bunch i would probably just skip it. Another poster said that they seem to work pretty well though so we might give it a shot

I don't think Hollywood tests actors for roles by giving them roles. I think actors take roles in order to change their brand or to show they can play diverse roles.

I disagree, frodo is absolutely the main character. He has the most pivotal role in the plot, has the most screen time, and much of the other characters actions are in support of him so even when he's off screen they're working on his behalf.

Hollywood isn't a singular entity. This isn't how it works at all. Actors audition for roles, sometimes they get chosen, and their profile has an impact on how likely the filmmakers discover them, that's it.
