This was my takeaway from the article as well. The entire plot of King of Comedy is reliant on pre-internet gatekeeping. Rupert concocts an insane kidnapping plot in order to bypass the gatekeepers and perform in front of a large audience.
Today, Rupert could just do his act on TikTok without committing any crimes, and millions of people could watch it if they wanted. It would be a lot easier than kidnapping Jimmy Kimmel to land a guest spot on a network show.

Daniel Craig's chemistry with Eva Green is part of why I didn't like Spectre and No Time To Die nearly as much as Royale and Skyfall. Craig and Green were incredible together; the tension in the train scene is palpable, and I quickly invested in their relationship in ways I never did with Craig and Léa Seydoux.

The moment I knew Casino Royale wasn’t like other Bond movies was at the end of the foot chase when Bond shoots the gas tank without a word. No quip. No reveling in the moment. Perfect choice.

Reply to Origin of James Hong's code name "Alpha" in "Everything Everywhere All at Once" by LawbringerBri
From Wikipedia for "Alpha":
>As the first letter of the alphabet, Alpha as a Greek numeral came to represent the number 1. Therefore, Alpha, both as a symbol and term, is used to refer to the "first", or "primary", or "principal" (most significant) occurrence or status of a thing.
Since they were the first "verse" to make contact with another, they became the "Alpha Verse". Same reason games/software are first "released" in an alpha-state.

Portal opens, he goes through, ends up in a lab, meets a redheaded woman named Regina, boom, it was Dino Crisis all along.

“In Bruges” came out 15 years ago, so you shouldn’t be shocked about what it is. Sure you can watch a trailer, but maybe look at a review or synopsis before saying a wonderful film is a “depressing mess”. Ding dong

Actually reading the article, the writer gets it all wrong. The movie is based on gatekeeping which was huge before the internet. In essence, gatekeeping was a process where a handful of people could make your career / make you famous / etc. Think Harvey Weinstein in the 90s. With the rise of the internet, people don't need gatekeepers anymore. If you are a model, you just go out and gain followers on instagram, etc.

Reply to Does anyone thinks the pacing of Everything, Everywhere, All at Once was a little off at the mid point? by jcgonzmo
It absolutely drags toward the end; a good 15-20 minutes could be shaved off with no noticeable difference.

Agreed! This movie is, without a doubt, my favorite bond movie of all time! Mads Mikkelsen is so great as the villain & he's one of the few actors that's great with every single role he takes.

Reply to Michelle Yeoh winning the Academy Award for Best Actress would be such a unifying and positive event but I'm scared the Oscars will disappoint on that department. by [deleted]
It wouldn’t unify me, a person who doesn’t like EEAAO and thinks that Blanchett’s performance in Tár is legendary. Time will be much kinder to Tár than it will be to Everything Everywhere All At Once. When the self-aware quirkiness that plagues all of Hollywood finally wears off, EEAAO will have nothing to stand on. Michelle Yeoh deserves better than winning for such an obnoxious movie.
