"...how do you follow up a film like Chinatown?"
With another Exorcist or Halloween sequel/prequel.

The thing is men (that’s me) like looking at attractive actresses. Though I’m not 100% sure I think the opposite is also true for women.

Yeah, it certainly did not grip me and pull me in like Chinatown did.

Yep. Just read the book and rewatched this, I think most people will be surprised by the cast of this generally forgotten flick. It's very faithful to the book as well.

Reply to If the film 65 with Adam Driver were to have a plot twist, what do you think it would be? by Aralmin
Seconding u/Livebyyourwits’ suggestion that it takes place in Nurassic Park, adding that Adam Driver dies in the first reel and it’s really about the kid.

He is a dinosaur. He’s in Jurassic Park. It was all a dream.

Return to Oz (1985), I love that movie but my oldest child still remembers how traumatized by the Wheelers, Mombi and Gnome King.

I would argue Mr White is absolutely the main character. He undergoes the most change and has the most interesting arc

to share perspective and interpretation of the story, at least that's how I took it. I didn't read it as an offended rant, more an interesting way that the story fits socially relevant themes under a modern lens

People enjoy the glossy fake realism of Hollywood. Obviously there is a place for more genuinely realistic movies but those won't typically attract the mainstream attention. Its a facade and we not only accept it but enjoy it. Give us perfect tooth Tom cruise riding a horse in 1873 and people will eat it up. There's nothing wrong with that. The more gritty realism is usually saved for the artier movies which are enjoyable in their own right

I remember when it was announced that Daniel Craig was the next James Bond, people were up in arms because he was blonde and blue-eyed.

the kid is autistic and the last scene is of them in a hospital bed staring at a dinosaur in a snowglobe.
