None of this matters nearly as much as quality story-telling and filmmaking. While casting should reflect the characters, story is what matters.

Being in movies makes people attractive. There are loads of attractive people who couldn’t get a job in movies to save their life.

Reply to How did Leo get so big, has he had an agent responsible for securing him all of these huge roles? by [deleted]
Bud he's been acting since he was a child. He was nominated for an Oscar and Golden Globe for What's Eating Gilbert Grape at 19. And had been pretty established on the TV show Growing Pains before that. Years before he was in Romeo + Juliet. He was already considered both a Hollywood heartthrob and a highly anticipated and respected actor. But yeah. Every actor has managers and agents. How do you think think the industry works?

And research also shows trailers that show the whole movie make more money than those that don’t but people complain about it anyway

It took me three tries to get through this movie. On the third try, I finally realized how hilarious it is.
On the other hand, Sexy Beast isn't nearly as funny as it looks at first glance, but it makes up for that in sheer intensity and narrative tension.

I'm of the opinion that he's always been a terrific actor, but I could be wrong. And really, he came swinging out the gate in his first movie ('What's Eating Gilbert Grape').

Luck, looks, lineage is the usual formal for Hollywood success.
The more you have of one, the less you need of the others.

Rocky 1 is perfect, and Creed is a great update to the franchise's portrait of Philly.

There's a ton of research in a variety of fields demonstrating that things we say we want aren't actually things we want.
The fact is that the percent of people that want worse teeth or hair for characters in movies is negligible

>Do movie makers really think people prefer eye candy over a more humanizing cast of characters.
Yes. And, for better or worse, that really is what most people prefer. Average looking people just don't attract viewers in the same numbers that attractive people do and less viewers equates to less profit.

According to ChatGPT, it might be one of these three - The Departed (2006), Reservoir Dogs (1992), A History of Violence (2005). Sadly, I don't remember the endings to any of these movies myself so I can't verify! But perhaps one of these will ring a bell.

It was a very sophisticated movie with a lot of subtle context it it about the effects of Reaganomics on society, buttered over a seemingly teenage camp story portrayed by a bunch of 30yolds.

I hope one day we'll get a Bond film that delivers on every level like CR does, but I think it will be a long time before that happens. it's just a masterpiece from beginning to end.

It was a great way to start Craigs run as Bond. I think it's tied with No Time To Die as the best Craig Bond films.
