I had a waiter the other day that was a dead ringer for Christopher Meloni, and it gave me the idea to rewatch it. I feel like we noticed so many more details this time. Now we're on the prequel episodes, which are a lot funnier than I remembered! I think watching the movie first really set the mood.

Neither Ritchie movie was dark. Snatch has moments but it isn’t dark.

The dialogue and several scenes in In Bruges are comedic. The interactions between Ken and Harry are funny. Going out drinking with the racist little person was funny. If you didn’t think the ending was dark humor, you may not enjoy dark humor the way you think.

It’s not my type of humor, and I’m sad enough already. I appreciate the tone of the movie. It was effective in making me feel emotions. These aren’t emotions that I enjoy feeling, though.

I think it’s a great movie that I respect a lot. The fact that I didn’t enjoy the experience says more about me than it does the film itself. I’m sorry to my fellow Irish people.

I just watched this and, along with Aftersun, broke my heart in the best possible ways this awards season.

I couldn't hold back tears basically since the beginning of the movie, the performances are stellar and even though the plot is simple, the power of this movie comes from the beautiful and sensitive filmmaking which elevates that plot to incredible heights.

I'm at a loss of words right now, but this (and Aftersun of course) is definitely one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen.

Why does their opinion take precedence just because they created it? Fiction doesn't belong to one person the way an entire culture's creations belong to that culture. Fiction is meant to be for the consumer's enjoyment, and if that enjoyment involves interpreting things the creator didn't explicitly mention....isn't that what art is all about?

People after all unconsciously incorporate tons of themes into their own work they're unaware of. As long as they can be backed up this is just more interesting to do than throwing up one's hands and saying, oof, tough luck, author says blue curtains are just blue and can't represent sadness, your interpretation is invalid.
