Recently, RRR. I’ve seen it three times in theatres now and each time the crowd was wild. Confetti everywhere, cheers, claps during the songs. It was unbelievable. So much energy in the theatre for three hours! That’s with a 15 min intermission!

I'd argue that the most probable reason is that the streamer doesn't want to pay for a second set of streaming rights to the other editions. I can imagine a situation where people complain about getting the director's cut because it wasn't what they remembered if the streaming service chose to show the director's cut rather than the version shown in theaters.

I like the commentary tracks on DVDs. A drawback of having DVDs be available not long after the movie leaves the theaters or even while the movie is still in the theaters, as was the case with "Tàr", is that those features are not available or are less available.

He said on a podcast (forgot which one) that he doesn’t write a movie with a theme or purpose in mind, he instead writes about “the facts” of what happened or what would happen if these stories happened in real life.

Which might explain why sometimes it’s hard to grasp the purpose and meaning of his films. I love the master but still don’t have an idea of what the film is ultimately trying to say

I'm feeling grumpy, tense and frustrated today so I've got one of my comfort shows on right now - Bob's Burgers. Lately I've also been enjoying I Love Lucy. Grown up watching it, so I've seen most of the episodes ten times over. A total classic but also just like a worn in comfy blanket.

This is completely different from yours, but my best cinema experience was watching Titane in an empty theater with just my mom. We did not know what we were getting into, and being able to exclaim and laugh out loud and say "WHAT THE FUCK" without disturbing anyone was very fun.

For sci-fi, I recommend Dune, Blade Runner & Blade Runner 2049, Arrival, Interstellar, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Abyss and Edge of Tomorrow. These are all really acclaimed and well known, but I'll recommend them in case you haven't seen some of them.

As for a personal favorite that isn't sci-fi, but never fails to make me smile, I recommend Midnight Run. An incredible action/comedy/Feel-Good movie that has a lot of heart.

The Fellowship of the Ring.

Not only did it feel like i'd truly just watched something special, a genre defining film that had 'rasied the bar' so to speak, it's the only movie i've ever been to where the audience audibly groaned when it ended as they wanted the story to continue, and then all stood up and applauded.
