Check out this 1.5 hour video, I've only watched the first half so far but it seems useful for you.

That's why I want to learn more and get better to see if it is potentially something I could get into.

That's why I want to learn and see if it's something I can click with. I love films and love watching reviews/analysis on them. I wanna see if that's something I can get into. There's not a lot riding on it. I just want to give it a go, I guess

Just start.
You will probably suck at first, but pretty much everybody sucks at first.
Not everybody reviews themes/arcs, so you don’t have to either. Plus, it’s your channel and your videos, do whatever the fuck your want

Serious question: If you don't have practice and experience analyzing films why would you start a Youtube channel doing it? That's like making a woodworking channel if you've never used a saw.

Wouldn't a documentary be a better fit for this? Movie-wise don't see much in it, but documentary-wise you could deep dive examinate that night

Just such a pleasant film from start to finish, beautifully rendered childhood summer. That last shot was perfect and heart-breaking.
For anyone who loved this movie and hasn't read its source, do yourself a favor and read Foster by Claire Keegan. It's an incredible story!

Sixth Sense when the theater realized that Bruce was dead the whole time was good. I had to watch the Departed twice to see the theaters reaction to the elevator scene and Martin Sheen getting thrown off the building landing at Leo’s feet.

IMHO, there is an opportunity to just give your honest take on the movie without delving into the themes, or over-analyzing. For the general public, they just wanna know if the funny movie was funny or if the scary movie was scary.
Reviewers tend to go way too deep into stuff that most regular folks who are munching on popcorn don’t care about.

Well to get better the best thing to do is practice, watch movies, read analysis and over time you will be able to develop those skills on your own. There are a lot of common themes and common symbols that are used which can help.
Although I seriously question the why you would want to start writing video essays when you said yourself you are not good at analyzing film and even less good at articulating your analysis. Which are the two most important parts of a video essay

The best advice I can give you is to just do it. You're probably going to be pretty bad at first. That's okay. You'll get better. The more you think about this kind of stuff, the better you'll get at it and you'll develop a system that works for you. Just don't get discouraged when you inevitably flop at first.

I saw the first Borat opening weekend in a packed theater and oh my god it was one of the funnest experiences of my life, that contagious atmosphere made me laugh uncomfortably hard the whole time, I’m surprised I didn’t suffocate or have a heart attack or something.

Haven't seen that one, but the only live action Asterix that was actually good, was the Cleopatra one (Although they never should've replaced Gottfried John), so I wouldn't be too surprised.

What, possibly, would be the point of that? Just watch the original.

Watched Hacksaw Ridge in theather. There was about 15 people. I was in a back row by myself. At the end of the movie, crying, I wondered how could I leave the room without anyone noticing that crying. When the lights turned on I noticed that everyone else were crying too. It was nice moment, when everyone looked each other and gaved a little nod, without saying anything.

Sadly I come from a country (Germany) where the audience rarely goes wild. Don't get me wrong, they laugh when something is funny, they jump at jumpscares, they do all the basic stuff. But we don't cheer, applaud or whatever during movies.
That said: Back in 1998 I attended a Star Trek night, where they showed all (back then) eight movies in a row and that crowd was just fun! After a short while we all even applauded at the best moments. Somethign that I never saw before or afterwards in a German movie theatre again.
That made it even more mindblowing for me when I visited Canada back in 2006 and at some point went to see Ice Age 2. The crowd went NUTS during that movie. (No Scrat pun intended) And I repeat: That was just Ice Age 2! I really wanted to catch Slither that weekend, but sadly couldn't find a theatre that played it.

I don't think it's meant to go together 100%. Like a P. K. Dick novel, it's impossible to make all the pieces fit.
