Half gets shade more often. In my backyard the right takes a lot longer to melt because the trees shade it a lot if the day.

It’s a perspective trick; the photographer is standing near the base of the tree and pointing up, so it may look like the metal is at the same height as the overhead cables but they’re likely no higher than the roof of a U-Haul or box van.
