Congratulations--yours was the first photo on reddit that actually almost made me vomit. Something about that white thing (tendon?? ugh). Good luck with your healing! It eventually will, but now you get a nice conversation piece until it does.

I was recovering at home. It was essentially just wrapped in an ace bandage for the duration of this being open.

If this is somewhere in a hot climate, it isn't uncommon to skip the heating... It is just an added cost.

I grew up in a banana growing area and it is indeed common to have these in smaller shops (Not supermarkets and the like).
You don’t have to buy the whole thing just take how many ever you want.

You remove the gauze 1-2 times a day and when you pull it out it takes a lot of the gunk out with it which helps to clean the wound
