Can we all start demanding that, when a police officer commits a crime, that it is not reported as “former” police? The fact is that these crimes were committed when the officer was on active duty. It is reported this way constantly. The officer who shot her neighbor because she walked into the wrong apartment was immediately characterized as “former,” even though she shot the victim as an active duty officer. The 4 who murdered George Floyd were right away called “former.” By characterizing these criminals as “former,” it takes away the gravitas that these are not only criminals, but they are also breaching the trust that society places on them. Saying “former” gives a false impression that the crimes were committed at some point after their law enforcement career.

No one here can really answer that. If the site says it will, then you are at risk that it will be. It’s going to be a process to fix this but monitor your bank to see if the transaction went through, call the RMV (be prepared to wait on the phone) and try to get there first thing in the morning to talk to someone .

There was actually a scandal around this several years ago that caused the head of our RMV to step down. They were keeping absolute shit records on out of state infractions for years. Basically just stuffing them in a filing cabinet and forgetting them.

I know there's a court system under the RMV, not sure why they told you that you can't file for an appeal. They're notoriously hard to deal with on stuff like this. Unfortunately, you'll probably have to hire a lawyer to help sort this out. Maybe try contacting both states' AGs too. Or your state rep and senator.

If you paid online, your bank should have a record of the transaction. Go to the bank find out if it was in fact paid and if not why not. Then take documentation to either the RMV or AAA.
