The "parking lot in the middle" is because certain types of shoppers like having direct access to the stores they want to visit (or to feel like they do). Find where you want to go, park in front of it, and walk inside. Which is fair, to a certain extent.

But then you have the developers that just go too far and completely ignore the walkability aspects that other shoppers may enjoy.

There's a happy medium in there somewhere, it's just going to take someone willing to find it.

Does the lease explain what the landlord's responsibility is to inspect the apartment for all insects before you move in?

Have you asked the leasing office if there had been an infestation of bedbugs in the building in the past and if so what type and schedule of remediation they do to make certain it doesn't happen again? Like do they have a monthly contract with a pest control company?

They either care (and are proactive) or they don't.

I'd be more concerned about their responses to those questions than the addendum to the lease.

Yup. We lost a bid in Norwell on a home that was pretty nice overall. Small, but only 25 years old, nice touches, a basement you could easily finish and turn into an in-law suite, and a decent sized yard.

Person that bought it paid $60K over asking and tore it down to build on the land.

When there is that much money in the market, you can sell anything.

We "lucked out" and bought as things stabilized a few months back, but no doubt that original Braintree home we saw went for $520K and was torn down, built into a much nicer property, and will be sold for $1M+.

welcome! I’m on the North Shore in MA. The state varies a lot by where you go - I really really miss living in Cambridge and Somerville but we were priced out as buyers needing a family home. Up here the main difference between NC and my area is the people are not friendly. Like, at all. Also, winter is 100 months long. If you buy a place outside of Boston make sure you do a practice commute before signing anything. 18 miles from Boston=1 hour on the road or road/train combo.

Thank you! We’re trying to keep it under $250,000 …even that makes my palms sweat. but also are very used to being underpaid in NC and income ratios are different everywhere. we know it’s gonna be tight moving to literally any other state we are looking at but it’s worth it
