Check the scenic Mohawk trail for the 35 miles of scenic byway from the Shelburne are to the hairpin turn in North Adams.

Northamton has great restaurants ,anything you fancy really.

If you take the Mowhawk trail east (rt.2) you get to the Quabbin region ,also wonderful.

I had an aunt slowly pass for ten days in hospice. What I saw can only be described as torture. I was amazed that her husband and children (adults) had been convinced by the medical people that everything was fine and this was normal and peaceful. Bullshit.
