It was a crepe restaurant, not sure about the Mandlebaums. I do know it was a national chain (not huge though). Here’s its wiki page. They also had wonderful salads.

I believe technically they can either be free or covered with a $100 deductible separate from your regular deductible. I have Progressive with a $100 glass deductible because I'm cheap but had no issues getting my windshield replaced with it last year. Safelite dealt with the insurance and just charged me the $100.

The arboretum has a nice overlook if you’re looking for city. Waltham has an excellent city viewpoint in their nature reserve, as does blue hills (which others have mentioned) if they have and want to use a car.

It's possible to have both private insurance and MassHealth. MassHealth just becomes secondary in that scenario and covers things like deductibles and co-pays from the primary insurance. So no, there's no penalty for having 2 insurances as this is common and something many people have. If you qualify for MassHealth, you should always have MassHealth.
