I'm on my third appointment, and we have had only one setback and it's not major, this was just something he mentioned to look into for some extra money to have when we are finally ready, since we are able to pay down the interest rate.

Depending on location, monthly commuter rail passes are much less, and parking at some of the outlying stations is pretty cheap. There is definitely a cost but it can be worth it particularly if you can work on the train.

My wife and her bestie have a Mardi Gras tradition every year now where they attempt a box mix king cake. Something always goes wrong with the rising process, and it ends up looking terrible but tasting great.

But yes, they are almost nonexistent and unheard of here in the Bay State. I’ve come to the conclusion that Mardi Gras never took off here because February weather here is the opposite of party time. Either cold, gray, damp, and dead or colder, gray, frozen, and angry. Perfect gumbo weather though!

I like how the list of move out states are Florida(retires), New Hampshire a border state, and cali/NY, probably students but two also high income areas. Almost like people don’t uproot their family and social lives plus take a 30% pay cut to go live in the middle of nowhere for slightly less money. People in general do not move due to cost of living they will just deal with it by continuing to rent or cutting elsewhere. These articles gloss over that Millennials are not moving out of MA, they are just continuing to suffer with the ever rising COL burden.

Massachusetts and Rhode Island have the largest Catholic populations in the country, so I guess it must be the French part that we're missing out on.

Having control of my own schedule and not having to answer to anyone else has been the biggest benefit for me. I have grown my business every year and always budgeted to be able to pay all bills and taxes. Now in my 27th year and still going strong. Never been a slacker or have taken days off that weren’t planned or deserved. Working for yourself is a different mentality than working a job for some company.

Always fight it , at least they will probably cut it down by half. Just express your sincere apology and don't try to lie about things or claim things about the officer. Just say you recognize what you did was wrong and say like I was listening to some music and got distracted or something and there was light traffic around at the time. If you don't have much of a driving record, tell them you have had no tickets in a very long time and it wont happen again and you are truly sorry. Explain that you have a financial hardship (even if you dont) at the moment (have a lot of bills to pay or something), and if they could at least cut the ticket in half that would help. 9 x out of 10 they still find you at fault anyway but if you explain all this they will usually cut it in half for you ....or close to it. You wont get it thrown out but will save money and have extra time to pay for it.

THe officer not showing up thing doesn't work any longer thanks to the pandemic . Now they do a lot of hearings Virtually and you have no choice but to come do the online virtual hearing or you lose and pay in full. About the best that usually happens is they cut the price of the ticket down in half or so, but they still find you at fault.

New England was settled by Protestants - Protestant culture still rules. Mardis Gras is connected to Catholic tradition preceding lent.

So I’d guess areas that were catholic/french catholic were more likely to celebrate.

I buy my king cakes online and have them shipped

It is a thing in Portuguese communities in Massachusetts. I had it every Christmas with the Portuguese folks. It’s called bolo rei instead of king cake. If you get the baby Jesus or the nut, it means you get to host next.
