the problem with that argument is that those "amenities" aren't actually going to benefit the people who need them. it will largely benefit the people who live in the most expensive parts of downtown with the easiest access to the park. additionally concert venues etc. just means more instances where access to the park is going to be restricted to those who have the funds for concerts.

Some of us just want to retain open spaces that anyone can enjoy.

I usually get my bread from the Union Square Market. There is a popular vendor there that does gluten free products. All though I have not tried. My company did some work for them, and folks who tried their products thought it was very good.

And Breads Bakery is a block away and they have gluten free options but they are more pricey.

Also, who makes great sour dough bread in Jersey City? Id luv to not always schlep over to the city.

Bergen-Lafayette near Light rail/Liberty State Park. Side streets near LSP, totally gentrified. High rise buildings and lofts. Drove to this neighborhood last weekend to pick up food order from Cafe Lafayette. LSP Light Rail is central to Jersey City Heights, Hoboken and Bayonne. The only downside... on street parking tight. Most new bldg’s in JC have parking garages, $$. We were looking at The Hazel.in this area. In JC it’s square footage/amenities.

I’ll say it again louder for those who willfully refuse to hear: THE STATE DEP PLAN INCLUDES 60 ACRES FOR SPORTS.

The People’s Park plan is a gross overdevelopment of the park that would pave over large open spaces to put up closed-off stadiums and concert venues. Not even Central Park has anything comparable to what Fireman’s cronies want to put up.

Also, what a bad take: A park goer doesn’t have to be an environmentalist or bird watcher to enjoy nature. A state park is supposed to be a resource to enjoy being outdoors; it’s not supposed to be Disney Land.

Not the first first time an NAACP member has sold their soul to the highest bidder. Sad, but the reality is people like Fireman have been playing this game for a while. As a POC, it pisses me off, because when Black/brown kids inevitably get screwed over by Fireman, this Richard Smith guy will claim he was deceived.

For your budget & other requirements, best neighborhoods are likely the Heights, McGinley Square, Westside, Bergen Lafayette.

Parking is notoriously difficult in the Heights, so you might consider budgeting $150-200/mo for an off-street spot if that's the neighborhood you choose.

ETA: just saw some of OP's responses to other posts. Heights would definitely be the most convenient option.

The only area where i would be concerned about safety would be greenville, other than that if you have common sense u will not have any problems in bergen lafayette or the heights, that being said it is still a city so there is always a small risk of getting ur car broken into etc but its not that common
