There’s always the Newark light rail. The worst of both worlds 😍

If he agreed to a fix and the fix was performed then your part is done. If he’s not happy w the fix that’s between him and the mechanic. Tell him to get lost

He had a meeting in person with residents of parkside east and west, only myself and my neighbor showed up, but he was responsive. Not sure how much good it will do, but I’m happy to chat more with you if you want

You are stupid for not going through insurance. Your recourse is simple to just ignore him.

My favorite part is when the train's announcements are one or two stations out of sync and you have to guess where you are.
Or better yet, hopping a train bound for either West Side Avenue or 8th Street, but with broken exterior lights, so you get to roll a dice to see which line you ended up hopping on.

For the light rail, you missed a few things:
"explore the region with the element of surprise as there is no functioning exterior car signage or announcement system"
"enjoy the local rainstorms in platforms and benches completely unprotected from the elements"
"share the roads with the considerate and careful drivers of the greater New York City area"
"you didn't want to go to Bergen County anyway"

You definitely can’t do tap to pay yet on the NJ side. Not rolling out until later this year.

It’s especially frustrating cause NJ allows municipalities to have rent control but explicitly exempts any building that is less than 30 years old so this is happening all over jersey city with the newer buildings.

It depends how much your deductible is.
If you already spent $1,100 and your deductible is $500, you’d be spending $1,600 altogether because they won’t refund you for what you spent. On top of that, the insurance company is going to put you at fault because he had the right of way which guarantees that your premium will go up.
If you spent $1,100 and your insurance is $1,000 don’t contact your insurance whatsoever. Not even to inquire because they can still raise your premium (albeit less) with this information.
Regardless, it seems like his car is fixed and he’s being a douche. I would keep the receipts from whatever you spent and tell him to see you in court if he wants more out of you.
The other alternative is to pay the other $1100 but to me that’s excessive to pay $2200 to fix his car with the amount of damage you’re describing. I highly recommend telling him you can settle it in court. I don’t want to see you get taken advantage of.

Try negotiating and see if they could drop it down to what you are comfortable with. But rents are really up right now in the whole area

When I have personally ridden that section of the line it does seem from my perspective compared to the traffic on NJ 440 we appear to be operating at that speed or a comparable speed.

I’ve done that a few times and will using the tap method exclusively once I figure out how to get a zero balance on my MetroCard or just give up on it eventually.
