At this point, it will probably be easiest to wait until you’re in London and then go to a Vodafone or EE store there to buy a prepaid sim.

You usually get the best deal and plan options that way versus buying at the airport or trying to buy one online.

Going to a store there is usually a relatively painless process because prepaid plans are much more common there than in the US. The people at the store will usually set it up for you and they know all the tricks to make sure your phone gets registered correctly because they do this stuff all the time.

As far as I'm aware from documentation I've seen and my personal experience, on the Bayonne Branch south of Danforth Avenue trains operate at a max speed of 55-56mph. I was able to double check a NJDOT State Safety Oversight document from 2021. It states "The HBLR operation is bi-directional with reverse signaling. The Available speeds for operation are in increments between 5 and 55-mph. Two additional speed control limits are available for specific circumstances, namely a 15-mph Yard speed and a 35-mph Street Running mode."

Weird statement... its for getting around Hudson county which it actually does really well at. If only the weekend service wasn't trash.

I've never seen these words used to describe the light rail trains. They are not lookers exactly.

> bent your metrocard

This hasnt been a thing for a while. Who living on the NJ side is still using MTA cards? Can just tap with anything.

And its missing for the light rail:

> Too shy to reliably meet up on the weekend

Yes i hears that all big property managers used the same third party system to determine future rents which is biased based on house affordability towards generating highest profits for them and make it sounds the normal rent across everyone for that area

Although im open for landlord to make profit off their properties this is like taking undue advantage akin to some retailer who were selling masks during the pandemic at ridiculously high prices (price gouging) because of supply chain issues until the government intervened

If you think HBLR shuttle buses are bad, NYC Subway shuttle buses can be absolutely brutal. I also guess you've never ridden the Bayonne section of the line south of Danforth Ave, max operating speed is 56 mph.

Good point, I was considering the remaining 4 blocks each individual towers, but some inevitably will be double towers (the one currently being built is one tower). Since double towers are usually built sequentially, it'll one after the other so it definitely counts as 2 separate buildings. To be more accurate, it'll be 4 to 8 more towers in TSCFKAMP, plus everything else. Also, I forgot there's one more tower to be built on Marin, next to the (not Jared) Kushner building, so add that to the list. But once all those are built, we won't have to deal with piledrivers. I for one look forward to this time of peace and tranquility.

It is when you realize minimum wage climbs each year in NJ (for another 2 years?), and unionization across the river made labor way more expensive here.

Newport buildings have concierge and porters maintaining them. Their wages had to go up about 20% if they kept up with the region. A bit more if it was someone they really wanted to retain.

And wages are likely ~40% of the operating budget for any luxury building that age.

Yes this works. For one reason or another I ended up with 10 metro cards that had less than a fare’s balance. I added exactly as much as I need to get a single fare and it worked. Just choose “other amount” on the machine when it prompts you for how much money you would like to add
