That's crazy such a high number, seems very little is being done to stop it. Only cops I see are on both ends of Newark's walkable section to stop cyclists which I get, but I don't ever see cops go on a walk or patrolling areas anymore by foot. They world see the craziness that goes so much better with a few just actually walking the street.

Most of the negative things said about LHS are untrue, they're not abusive or a high kill shelter. We've fostered dozens of kittens for them, they have hardworking and caring staff. That said, someone high in management there seems to be a Covid-phobic nutcase. They still won't let people into the shelter even masked, and expect people to adopt a new family member over Zoom!

We adopted our sweet new adult boy cat at Newark Associated Humane. They were great, and didn't require the obnoxious & intrusive application forms, multiple references, and vet calls that the 'crazy cat lady' rescues do. Newark has animals that need homes, and don't have time to indulge in screwing around. Highly recommended if you have a car, they're in the ass end of nowhere there.

I'm all for holding ADG accountable for her actions, but this dude died. Maybe not the time for a joke.

RIP to the victim and hope the driver / killer is caught.

ETA: maybe I didn't make it clear, I think ADG is not fit for office. She should have resigned right after the circumstances of the crash became public last year. She's lost of the trust of her constituents and brought shame to our city: a home-grown villain we can't get rid of.

I love an Amy joke as much as the next person - but maybe when someone's life has been lost is not the best moment for it?

We should be furious about deaths like this our city. Don't let the Amy meme distract from that fury.

Let's hope justice is served for this man's family.

You’re adopting a pet that desperately needs a forever home. If animals are treated badly by a particular agency then it’s even more important to adopt from them.
My neighbors and I both adopted from LHS and never looked back. Both babies are the sweetest cats and now they even hang out together. Thank you so much for adopting 🙏
