I agree that it's not good for some cars not to have license plates, but I don't view that as a moral imperative. No one is committing murder here.
Also, I have to note that illegal immigration leads to widespread violations of vehicle and traffic laws - are you equally enraged at those violations? My guess is most of the people piling on in this thread think those violations are unworthy of prosecution.

Yeah space is probably a constraint although both these gyms find plenty of space in manhattan so im sure if they wanted it they could make it happen here. I think perhaps the demographics of JC have changed so much over the last decade that too some degree businesses that could work here now havent caught up yet (more gyms, more club like bars, etc.)

Reply to Property Taxes ~ Quick (dumb?) Question: if purchasing a condo for $600k with an assessed to value of $500k do the property taxes automatically adjust to the latest sale price of $600k? TIA by MarieSkiis
Assessed values for property taxes are completely independent of sale price and mortgage appraisal.

Prato bakery is solid - very easy to find a seat by an outlet in my experience

I loved Equinox when I was in Manhattan. Would definitely pay for it if they open a location in JC. I wonder why they haven’t opened a JC location despite having gyms at Paramus and Summit. Probably because they are not able to find a suitable spot in JC.

But there’s not a lease that Pompidou is paying for, right? JC is footing that bill. Please correct me if I’m mistaken.

Jersey City does not have enough gyms for the population. I think we would benefit from a big high end gym like a LifeTime or Equinox (I know i would join)

Think you just need to wait for the new years crowd to die down. Every gym gets crowded in the beginning of the year.

Reply to No parking signs for a move by Jersey-City-2468
I had signs up almost a week before the move. I moved in on a Sunday and a car was parked in the middle of two of my no parking signs. I called the number I was given several times and no one picked up since they were “closed”. Had to park the giant U haul truck in the middle of the street and unpack as quickly as we could.
Your experience may vary depending on the day you move in.

It was to be a joke about the gross gentrification of Jersey City over the past decade and I'll say it again - Dumb Buildings with Names instead of Addresses - oh well I shot to high and straight over heads

Ignore folks giving you grief OP. They have some bad takes without knowing your situation, and it’s a reasonable request you have around minimizing risk.
I know people with medical conditions still having a tough time. It’s the high respiratory illness rate overall going on this winter among other things. It’s a bit sad, but asking about COVID seems to trigger people; if you asked the same question but said your partner was going through Chemo and wanted to minimize risks I wonder if people would be so ‘lol get over it’. Not everyone is a fit, healthy 20-30 something with low risks

I’m pretty sure the law they point to is in the articles of confederation..which obviously have no bearing on anything anymore since the confederation no longer exists. Real stupid shit.
