It's a flavor of conspiracy weirdo who claim they can just declare themselves exempt from state and federal law, often based on some misreading of old treaties where they claim the United States is actually a corporation and they choose not to be a customer or something.

It actually is a huge honor that Jersey City is going to be the new home of this museum. Contrary to what many people here seem to believe, art and culture are a very important aspect of society, especially cities. Museums enrich communities and boost economies through tourism, which is good for boosting small businesses

This happened to me when I moved. They gave me a number with the signs. I called the number. Parking authority came out quickly and was getting ready to tow the car when the guy came running down the street and moved his car

Yeah I'm agreeing since our rent was raised specifically because taxes increased, but it wasn't 10%. I think it was closer to 4-5% for us, but we rent from the owner directly and she lives next door and so her expenses also increased, etc. No increase last year, been living in this particular rental for about 2 years now.

I have lived nearby with my family for the last 3 years and consider it rather safe. It’s still an urban area so just be aware of your surroundings. It’s an 11min walk to groove street path. I prefer to walk on side streets as it’s more peaceful than Newark ave.

Having lived downtown for 8 years, this is a part of downtown that is still “improving.” There are lot of condos going up that are leading to more storefronts and restaurants. There are a number of permanent families with young kids in the area. Other areas of dtjc feels like a short-term stop for young families. Gentrification has its positive and negatives, but this area does have a sense of community. The traffic could be bad on some of the streets at rush hour, I would suggest checking it out on Fridays around 5 to see if it bothers you.

Sovereign Citizen. They try to claim that the laws don’t apply to them. Something about that they didn’t personally specifically allow each and every one of them.

Stupid Life Pro Tip: If you see one of these people, make sure to get in to an accident with them. That way you can have the police come and ticket and tow them for not having registration, plates, or insurance. Then sue them so you get additional entertainment when you go to court.
