I think people here don't really like urbanism. They like gentrification that results in Whole Foods and more amenities. Like if JC could be Park Slope.

Just to be clear, I think you're talking about the ferry to midtown - the ferries to other parts of Manhattan only operate for brief windows in the early morning and early evening.

Are these from a storm or did people actually throw them in?

I'm not yet sure if I could commit to this regularly, but I'd still love to get on the WhatsApp group to SEE if walks are happening that I might be able to join haha

There used to be a Gap store at Newport! It was on the first level, where the Michael Kors and the Starbucks is now. Closed around 2010-2011 if I remember correctly.

Is that an actual dispensary or a CBD place yet again?

NIMBYs are coming out of the woodwork to oppose them, in every town in the state. Many of them don’t like within 50 miles of the place yet claim it would hurt their home values.

I know this is specifically a downtown area aspect, but I love how close the waterfront area is for me personally, and how well it is maintained for the most part. I love walking or biking along the waterfront in the spring/summer/fall -- even into the hours beyond sunset - or even super early in the morning!

I don't know if this will make sense, and maybe it sounds cliche, but while we live in a city, it can also often feel like a not-so-little village or smaller/closer knit type of community.

If you know whose car it is, it would be an asshole move to call parking authority. But if it’s some rando, don’t feel bad about calling. For me, 90% of the time it’s someone connected to the restaurant next door and I just walk over and ask them to move it. But if I don’t recognize the car and no one there knows whose it is, I have called. I’m pretty reluctant to call the cops in general but in this case they’re just ticketing the empty car — you’re not inviting the danger of a violent confrontation.

I work in nyc but I don’t trust any of those smoke shop dispensaries and def none of the trucks. I’ve had some of the worst bud in my life from those places, I’m not rolling the dice on their carts. I stopped buying carts from all gray market sources a while ago just to be safe. I haven’t been to the legit nyc dispensaries yet but I heard they are charging insane prices.
Sometimes the carts go on sale. I got a 1 g of Gary Payton for $70 from apothecarium in Lodi last month.

Nah I’m fully aware of its issues but if you’re into urbanism it’s far and away the best city for it in the country. What don’t you like about it?

Hoboken being the “greatest city ever” is just sad. It is not.
It’s comments like these that make me feel lucky to not be like the people that leave them.

I love how vibrant the city's creative energy is. There are new restaurants popping up left and right, gallery spaces, nightlife events, and so much of it is locally-driven by people who are invested in making JC a more interesting and colorful place.
It feels like BK did ~15 years ago when things were just beginning to pop off over there.
