I mean sure, but the Path literally bypasses one of NJ's most densely populated neighborhoods in the Ironbound, and any light rail connection with HBLR would help alleviate traffic in a part of town that is super congested. The path is great, but it doesnt provide any services to a part of Newark that really needs it

I second this. If you can make it work, the After Dark events are the best. They are twice a month (the 2nd after dark event is themed, 1st one is more chill). It’s only adults in the building, cheaper admission overall (but Pompeii is an extra fee).

As for the exhibit itself, it’s got really cool pieces with things to read about it. Not too many interactive bits to the exhibit. Honestly, I’d give it maybe 30-90 min max to go through the exhibit. (90 min might be pushing it too). Let me know if you have any questions!

Maybe pick one of the after dark events to check it out. Those are 21+ after hours events. The second Thursday is usually more education with ā€œspace talksā€ and the 3rd Thursday is more like a themed party. The exhibit is not hands on (more like a ā€œtraditionalā€ museum), though my son loved the immersive video at the start. I checked my camera and I don’t have any good pictures to share unfortunately.

As of Jan 1. 2023 the city changed vendors for cleaning the dog run. The reason was … money and the contract went to the … lowest bidder. No surprises here, eh?

The new vendor appears not have performed according to the contract, which is, of course hardly surprising.

Edit: if you want to complain, call James’ office and call him out on this.

I thought it was good, it's a medium size exhibition. It is not child oriented. The cost for it is reasonable. Unfortunately the cost combined with LSC admission itself is a bit much. If you've never been to LSC then go ahead and go, maybe see a planetarium show too if there's one that isn't too kiddy.

If you have been to LSC before then.... honestly hard call. If you really like Pompeii maybe? You can YOLO it if you want and just go. I was skeptical too but enjoyed it.

Didn't take pics.

The article is a bit clickbaity, but all of the proposals actually do seem relatively feasible since the right of ways still exist for the majority of the distance.

When you stop and consider that Newark, JC and Paterson are each county seats and the 3 largest cities in New Jersey, all with government and corporate offices, hospitals, universities, and attractions in each to draw travelers, I think it does make sense to connect all of them via light rail even despite the redundancy in areas because of the additional transfer/network possibilities it creates (it would provide an opportunity to transfer between the Main Line, Bergen County Line, and Pascack Valley Line as well as the Northern Branch HBLR extension before the junction station in Secaucus) - this would basically be NJ's rough equivalent to NYC's proposed Interborough Express subway line between the Bronx and Staten Island, which is good considering how much of our trains are so focused on shuttling people to and from NYC.

And given the population density of this part of the state, I think there would be the ridership to justify it, especially since some of these rights of way also go either directly through downtowns or main streets of towns like Nutley, Belleville or Maywood, as well as right by major offices and institutions like the On3 Campus (home to corporate labs and Seton Hall's Medical School), Hackensack University Medical Center, the Kearny Point office complex, Paterson Great Falls NHP, and others these projects would have a good amount of high profile destinations at various points along each line, and likely entice developers to build more higher density housing and mixed use properties near the stations.

I’ll address that one by one lol 1- service is perfectly fine, you order, they make it, you pay and leave. You must just be really needy. 2-i don’t toast bagels so idk about that 3- the line out the door is due to only one thing….. a large amount of people actually liking the place and willing to wait. It’s a very small place so that’s just a bullshit point. All this is subjective, you either like the taste of the bagels or you don’t. Everything else you said is just a lie.
