I actually have my own business but it doesn’t take someone being an owner to just state the obvious. I don’t care if they need the money or not. I acutely like supporting the sweet people in the corner store across the street. All I was saying is it’s a zombie business that obviously doesn’t need the cash flow.

>Freight and light rail physically cannot share the same tracks by definition.

Doesn't the River line light rail share tracks with freight?

Although go into the posts about the IBX on r/r/nycrail if you want to see all the arguments about what the definition of light rail is. It's not a scientific term so it doesn't actually have a specific definition in that regard and legally the definition is just that the train cars look like trams:

>Light rail means a streetcar-type vehicle railway operated on city streets, semi-private rights-of-way, or exclusive private rights-of-way. Service may be provided by step-entry vehicles or by level-boarding.

They can with special permission from the FRA. NJT does it with the RiverLINE in South Jersey, and it will be done with the Northern Branch. A small section of the Newark Light Rail had freight on it until 2007. The NS Newark Branch sees very little traffic, so I doubt NJT will have any issues using the line. The height of the Catenary can be adjusted for freight clearance its not a fixed height. SEPTA has a section of streetcar that crosses the CSX main line and catenary is higher to meet the clearence of the double stack.

Yes they clean it. They pressure wash it and empty the trash. Idk how frequently but at least once a month. The heat makes it smell worse.

Look, I have nothing against Scram. I like the food and I go there when its open. It's their business. Go ahead and open something up yourself if you feel that you could be making so much money.

People who need their business to make the max amount of funds to pay rent, have great ingredients and pay employees a decent wage are open during peak hours. End of story. If not someone is getting the short end.

Have you walked down the block after 12? There are a ton of parents/ care givers looking for a mid day place before it’s time to pick the kids up, folks that work from home or just someone who wants a desert. Can you go there? No they close at 12. Forget about treats for the kids and coffee for grown folks on their way to the park.

You can barely get a rotisserie chicken at 6 pm or a parking space at 5 because this area is so crowded.

Have you been to Starbucks after work? It’s packed and they are making large amount money. You don’t just leave that on the table daily.

I'd say it would probably be most effective to get the other dog owners to collectively agree to clean up after their dogs shit, at least. I realize pee is probably not something we can do much about, but if I had a dog, I would assume I'd be responsible for my dog's waste, especially in a shared resource?

Maybe we can just get Amy DeGuise to clean it up as some kind of community service.

The bigger shame is the cost of projects in NYC means no station in Union City and/or a stop with transfer to the light rail.

If costs in NYC matched anywhere else in the world then for the same price (or less) the Gateway tunnels could be built with one or 2 stops in NJ before the Hudson.
