Sadly, a lot of MTA stations have taken out trash cans as well. It turns out that people put trash in them and then someone has to empty them. Novel, I know.

Anyhow, the MTA figured out there's less trash in the stations if you don't have trash cans, because (most) people will just hold on to their trash rather than throw it near/on an overfull trash can. Also, then the MTA doesn't have to empty any trash cans. A real win/win if you're the MTA and a real lose if you're a customer who wants basic services. See also: bathrooms.

This would be like if a restaurant decided not to use utensils because they were sick of cleaning them, and just told everyone to eat with their hands/bring their own. But hey, when you're a government service ...

Looks like they are supposed to post proposals on this page. Not sure why there’s a bunch of old stuff posted there right now. https://publiccomments.panynj.gov/

Here’s where they solicited comments on the proposed budget, but the link is now stale: https://publiccomments.panynj.gov/proposed-budget/

Speaking about the lack of trash cans ... A few weeks back I was waiting for a delayed train at journal square, went from the middle of the station area where you board the trains all the way to the front of it searching for one but of course there aren't any. I asked the conductor who happened to be in the other train if he had any idea why there are no trash cans, and he told me it was something about a security risk??? Meanwhile almost every NYC subway station has at least one.

If the Uber driver’s license plate doesn’t end with a “C” they likely don’t have a TLC license. I always message the driver “going to NYC” so we don’t waste each other’s time!

Based on everything you're saying - even with a ground connection in the circuit you still would have been shocked (not electrocuted). If current was able to enter your body something aside from the lack of a ground in the outlet was at fault, and the electricity would have found the shortest path to ground - which would have still been thru your body.

3-prong outlets without the ground-wire connected are VERY common in older buildings and completely up to code as long as the outlet is clearly labelled as lacking a ground (usually done with a sticker). If you truly suspect grounding to be a legitimate issue, the correct course of action would be to request the outlet be replaced with a GFCI outlet which will pop the moment a short circuit condition exists - but this outlet will also need to be clearly labelled as lacking a ground.

Yea, these drivers can sometimes be crazy. Luckily, I haven't had much of that since switching exclusively to Lyft. But I had an Uber Driver try to make me get out actually almost at the tunnel. I refused and he pulled over to the cops and they told him he could not put me out there and to keep driving me to NY. 🤷‍♂️
