Wow just after I commented i spotted the rabid raccoon on Morris street. Heard a lady scream and looked outside and there it was. Called my building to let them know but not sure what else I could’ve done

We're not much for houseplants, We like to keep our streetside ground floor shades drawn, and there's not a lot of room anyway. I focus on the vegetable & fruit garden. We used to have a ficus tree we gave away.

A few years ago we acquired a couple of orchids, and amazingly they bloom every winter for months! They and the cactus are hard to kill.

Sure, they're nice and all. What empty block would you like to have a park built on here in downtown JC? The good news for dog parks is that they're very popular amenities for LUXURY BUILDINGS to have. I can think of three at Newport, two in Harsimus Cove and one over by Zeppelin.

Treating dogs like people is very different from what your describing. Businesses can allow pets or disallow them, it is up to their discretion. A suggestion on what people should do is not a solution it’s merely a suggestion. Actionable legislation would be an example of a solution. However I don’t think that’s realistic since your views are pretty niche lol

You dumb, ignorant useless turd. There are currently literally zero legal options available for voters to expel her out of city council. Get that through your head.

> more than snark at her on Reddit.

People literally just did a protest (OUTSIDE OF REDDIT) as a way of attempting to shame her (again, literally the only legal option directed at her) to do more than snark at her. This is the thread concerning that.

Again, to repeat the point, people literally just did something IRL and you're out here complaining IN THAT THREAD ABOUT THEM DOING THAT IRL THING that people should stop complaining online. You dumb fucking loser.

We just put our notice to leave in this week. There’s been major issues with management recently. They were over 2 weeks late getting our renewal offer to us, and when they did, it was a $500 increase —wild when the very next day they started pile driving outside our window. Two of our favorite concierges have left in the past few weeks. One of the managers has a reputation for being condescending to tenants, and the other one is rarely in the office to address anything. For a building that’s only a few years old, it is in really bad shape. Our bedroom window is duct taped shut because it was inproperly installed and bent from the frame. Our dryer is unusable, as it take over 4 hours to do a load. The gates in the parking garage go out at least once a week. The hot tub on the deck (for the very few months it’s actually open) has NEVER worked. I could go on and on. You can look on my profile to see that less than a year ago I had a very different review of the property. But the past few months have wrecked my impression of the building, and I’m am by far not the only resident to share the same sentiments. The management doesn’t care about retaining model tenants…they’re prioritizing price gouging and catering to foreigners who pay for short term rentals.

To answer your direct question: no, the mayor has no authority to remove members from City Council.

But it's a bit more complicated than that:

A recall effort is practically impossible even with unlimited money and resources because of the staggering amount of signatures required to remove a city-wide elected official. Amy is clearly not going to have a sudden change of heart and resign unless there is sufficient political pressure to do so.

So far, only 2/8 of the other city council members have called for DeGise's resignation. The other 6 all ran on Fulop's ticket in 2021. They would likely follow his lead if he were to do the right thing, but he needs the blessing of the Hudson County political machine (which DeGise and her father are very influential in) to run for NJ governor in 2025.

Fulop is hoping that this story will fizzle out by that time and nobody will associate him with it. He wants to keep the support of Hudson County Dems, but stay free of the stench of the hit and run story as he eyes statewide office.

There isn’t an easy solution. But I would suggest stop treating dogs like people. They don’t belong in restaurants or stores. We shouldn’t use our money and space in the city to accommodate them.

People should understand a city is not an appropriate environment for a dog. Our sidewalks and green spaces shouldn’t be covered in shit and piss from these animals.

Because this city is run by morons who are corrupt and don’t care. Aside from the fact that things like that take a ton of time. They’d rather build high rises instead of buying out plots of land to make into parks. Though I will say, for how stupid van vorst dog park is, liberty state park is right there. It’s very underutilized and I’m happy to go there with my dogs and have some peace and fucking quiet.

i lived there and its the nicest place i ever lived. insanely expensive now from what i see. theres very close attention paid to the details in unit and the amenities are top notch. probably the best luxury tower in jersey city. they will raise your rent $1k after your first year, though. be prepared to basically never interact with your neighbors. unsure if its the same now but it was a ghost town when i was in there.

For sure, the amenities are alright. I think the best thing you get is the pool/outdoor area that’s open only from may to October 31st and the gym in the south tower. The north tower gym is sub par and during the winter if you want to go to the gym in the south tower you have to go downstairs, leave the lobby enter the south tower then go to the gym. I highly suggest looking for an apartment in the south tower. Even the lounge is better there.
