The Hudson River is directly connected to the ocean, unlike the Chicago River. And we're at the lowest part of the Rive (closest to the ocean, so strongest winds) unlike Hoboken or weehawken further upstream.

If you're talking about downtown specifically, we're at sea level and the hill to go up into journal square or the heights is only about a mile back, so the air doesn't dissipate, unlike somewhere like, Manhattan, for example, which has more land for the wind to spread around. The wind just stays down here and whips around.

This is not based on science. Just thinking out loud.

Chicago is called the Windy City due to Politics, not actual wind. At least that’s what Chicagoans said the year I lived there.

Regarding JC, it’s simply where we are in the harbor, and our lack of natural buffer. The waterfront is particularly bonkers wind wise, especially when a storm system or cold snap rolls through.

Base gym is a big gym with a lot of machines and clases. World Boxing Gym used to be the cheapest but their machines are so so old and they raised their prices to $70+tax per month which just isn't worth it. Club metro is $50/month and much much bigger with tons of classes too.

Drivers are cold! they've got to hustle extra to get where they're going. Don't be an asshole and block them by crossing the street on your miserable feet.

A riddle has a questionable answer. In this case, there’s no question that cars will continue to blow through pedestrian crossings, even with pedestrians in them. Bedamn the weather and pedestrians, or cyclists if you’re a councilwoman.

I was out for a run and the amount of people who don't look both ways when making a right turn is hilarious. And sad.

I've lived at 225 Grand for almost 1.5 years and it's been great! The front desk staff is lovely.

I've only experienced the electricity going out once after a switch blew and the water was shut off once or twice for a few hours. Honestly, nothing to worry about. For a period of time, the fire alarm went off quite a bit, but it's been fine for a while now.

We moved last year. We live near exchange place path in JC. My partner commutes to Manhattan everyday. I work in NJ but go out in the city 1 or 2 times a week. It’s true the path late night is rough but you alway have Uber as a backup. FYI THERE IS CONSTRUCTION IN HOLLAND TUNNEL AND IT CLOSES AT 11PM

I also made the move from the city and have friends in Manhattan and bk, I still miss it. But I get more space and a parking spot which was the trade off of moving here. It’s definitely doable, if timed right, like everyone says. I’ve done my fair share sitting on the floor at wtc waiting for the path but again, not the end of the world. I also do bite the bullet of an Uber, but that’s when I feel like it’s sketch to go home alone, depending where I am. I also don’t need to commute into the city everyday for work. Just gotta weigh it all out.
