Genuinely curious, what led you to accept a 2+ hour commute in Easton?

Of course the Spanish food doesn't suck, it's mostly pretty great. It's just that it's not that interesting to talk about compared to the latest global food that drops in like a Thai or French or whatever. Plus they tend to be down scale. It gave me a huge sad when basically all of the cheap Spanish places exited Downtown.
My favorite currently is Ricky's on Franklin Street, huge portions of Pernil w rice and beans!

I would drive my car into the ocean before I commuted ~5 hours a day.

Money isn't an option? Domo Domo. Money's a factor? Kura. Don't want to wait two hours for a table/seat? Eh, Honshu is pretty good. I've heard decent things about the newish spot on York and Barrow, but It'll be hard to top Kura for me.

I get it. Another suggestion: try using a more energy efficient personal heater (I use a dyson cool + hot ). You could still figure out the wattage of your in unit heater and compare the savings to a personal heater, but this is an easy way to forecast your monthly usage and cost. I worked out a good blend of using my personal heater and vented heat to maximize comfort and cost.
I would explore this once you speak with PSEG and rule out an incorrect reading.
Bonus: They sell crypto mining heaters now and I’ve heard it covers the usage of the heater (one of my friends just got one which made me think of it, but personally I like my Dyson)

There's so much good Latin food on Central alone. Some of my faves are Sabor a Peru, Noches, Los Amigos (their eggs with green sauce, holy moly), Irma's, Kikriki. Tons more as you wander up into Union City too.

I've heard other people say JC heating costs are ridiculous... used to live in a 700 sf apartment outside of JC and never spent more than like $100 on heat.
Currently live in a 2500 sf house (further from JC) and we keep it around 70 and we pay less than half of your bill in the winter months.
Something is wrong.

you were probably the kid that reminded the teacher to collect hw. The same 5 seconds you spend taking this pic could’ve been used to walk around the car

My wife has family on Danforth on the other side of MLK and that particular area and the surrounding 2-3 blocks are safer than the rest of Greenville and getting better. JFK blvd is a very busy area and Danforth leads to a major commercial road, and can get noisy

Maybe I'm too much of a purist when i'm craving sushi, but I just have not been able to enjoy Domo Domo. Tried two of their courses and even tried to pick a la carte, but every time, there were so many overpowering fusion-y toppings covering the fish. The Honshu omakase is the polar opposite - I've had shima aji and kinmedai there, stuff that surprised me to see at a "local" spot.
Domo Domo cocktails were great though, and I still want to check out Ondo at some point.

Add those window insulation plastic sheets to block draft. Also keep your blinds up during the day to get more sunlight into the apt for warmth.
