How the fuck is anywhere in Jersey City a good commute to LIC, much less the south end? If you're driving, you're talking Holland Tunnel through downtown Manhattan up the FDR and into Queens or all the way through Staten Island and Brooklyn on the BQE - those routes suck and are constantly congested. Not to mention an extra couple hundred dollars in tolls every month + gas and wear & tear.
If you're doing it by public transportation, that's a good hour+ each way even if you make all your connections between the PATH and the MTA. Why wouldn't you just get a condo in Elmhurst or Jackson Heights or North Corona or Forest Hills? The briefest of zillow searches shows plenty of them available for significantly less than that.

I'm not saying you're wrong here, because they're probably just being asshole landlords (but I'm repeating myself). I'm simply questioning the timing aspect. If you suspect discrimination, document everything you've got and send it to a lawyer - perhaps there's a pattern.
That said, without a ton of evidence, it's a hard case to prove. Look at ol Don Trump back in the 60s and 70s - they basically had to prove by his own sheer malice and stupidity that he was guilty of it. They literally found applications with a big C written on them for "colored" to show a pattern of discrimination against black people.

Eh no NJ governor can win without the support of the suburbs but Murphy absolutely would not have won either term as governor without landslide numbers in our cities. He should absolutely be doing more to alleviate issues with the PATH and seemed to be dedicated to making Newark more of a place of importance in his first term but has since pivoted to try and become more “moderate” in appeal so he can got trounced in the first round of a presidential primary

is your commute via car or public transit?
edit: i’ll shoot straight with you, i wouldn’t buy in that area. have you considered the west side? affordable and safer IMO with better mass transit options (better in that you aren’t further from the path)
edited again: others have made valid points re: your commute. where are you living now that you think JC is an easier LIC commute? what time of day are you typically commuting? i moved to JC from LIC and did the drive frequently when we were looking/in contract and it’s not exactly a quick drive unless you do it mad early (like pre-7am) or mad late.
edited for further commuting context that they’re about to close the holland tunnel NJ bound tube overnight for two years so this is perhaps a complicating factor if you drive.

I'm a realtor if you have specific questions about how the process works (or sometimes can or should work). There are many ways to find an apartment - including Zillow if you have time to research, call around, etc. Don't give anyone any money until you have verified that they actually own the apartment, or have the legal right to rent it. Lots of scams out there.

Illegally tinted, you're not allowed to tint the windshield or front passenger windows. But as the OP shows, police do whatever they want.

What’s the official policy and/or legality of police parking illegally to stop and get food? Are they allowed to do this? Are they violating any laws/policies/procedures or are they just simply allowed to park their vehicles wherever they want, whenever they want?
I know they do this all the time, but I’ve always wondered if they are actually violating any codes by doing so.

Like others have said it’s entirely possible they ran the credit before rejecting you and it’s just a coincidence that you were notified after you received the rejection. They checked your credit just like any landlord would but regardless of how good your score is you were trespassing so that’s the reason they gave for the rejection. Nothing illegal here. Sorry

Oh boi!! We call cops “goons” in India. Relatively, this is nothing. Cops can get away with actual murders by planting evidence. They use their vehicles and drivers for personal errands. That’s okay because the local gas station WILL fill their tanks for free.

Yes you are right on that part, but I was not told that the original tenants are not allowed to sublease the apartment. I should've asked now that I have learned that something like this could happen. But genuinely I did not know about this situation.

Assumptions are often incorrect.
Also correct me if I'm wrong, but you also said you broke the lease terms. I'm not sure why you're surprised. You were likely technically trespassing, as you didn't have permission to live there from the property owner. That itself is unethical.

But i have to assume it's unethical, because she has solely been saying no because of sub-lease thing since Friday and still ran a credit check today (Monday)?

Leasing office. They usually give one per person, but you can get extra by paying.
Edit: Sorry. You can get extra fobs by paying, not keys. When we were more than 2 people, we had to duplicate the keys.
