I have friends that used to live there. They lived there for a long time and didn’t have many complaints. There’s some times some riff raff that hangs out in the park across the street, but they’re generally harmless

JC isn’t bad but it’s for sure overpriced in any of the nice areas

All legit, but that's the entire continent except maybe CDMX.
Attractive, accessible, affordable. Pick two.

A fair critique of our town. OP, please be sure to tell your friends.

>First off, Getting from the airport to JC is a mission. If you want to rely on transit it’s either a bus+path or 3 different trains. Uber ended up being cheaper and faster for 2 people.
What are you comparing this to?

Everyone in Jersey City knows you have to Uber to the airport, knows how to travel on the public transit here (one payment method for NJ only transit operated by NJ transit and another one for the PATH operated by port authority since it's in two states, not really that complicated), and knows construction is booming in journal square. Five years ago you would have been saying that about downtown. But thanks for the tips.

I mean, you pretty much just described most US cities.
Also, I might be misunderstanding this part:
>Also… the fares!! Buses, LR, PATH, MTA! Everything has a different payment method.
I use the same app for my bus and light rail tickets. The MTA is operated in a different state, so. But I also use a metro card on the PATH.
Anyway, not every city is for everyone. You don't have to live here and I hope you find a place that fits your needs.

The Extra at the MLK light rail stop is actually not too bad. The Grind coffee shop has a store a little further down Pacific (towards LSP)--even has some fresh produce. And for small stuff there are lots of reasonable bodegas in the area.
