That charity run dispensary is the closest recreational dispensary to Hudson County. It's a one seat (or at least one ticket) ride on the PATH and a short walk through Greenwich Village.

Downtown FLWR was originally supposed to open in Bell Mar, but decided to move to JC. My guess is they saw the huge vacuum in Hudson County and figured a major PATH hub where nobody else has an annual license would be a better place to be as they'll have the jump on everybody else. They just had to wait for the CRC to give them permission to change their name.

Harmony in Secaucus just got permission to expand to adult use, which will happen when they grow their inventory enough to satisfy the CRC. So, you can get there from JC via a 2 train ride (minimum), plus a 1 mile walk through a scenic industrial park. Had they done this when the rest of the MSOs did it, they'd get a lot of business, but Housing Works in the East Village is a better deal.

The president of NJ-NORML was told to expect a boom of openings in April. We'll see.

Dude, you are using data that is terribly outdated. Those figures are from FY2021. Not sure if you are purposefully ignoring what has transpired since then, or if you are simply clueless about the dramatic budget increase approved by our BOE last year. When faced with state cuts and a necessary increase in the school levy, they quite literally decided to simultaneously increase the total budget by over 15%. Our current per pupil spending is just shy of 33K. That’s not a guess. That’s a fact.

What’s the best dispo in the area at the moment? I’ve only been to ZenLeaf in Elizabeth and enjoyed it. Prices still high though. It’s just so easy to get stuff delivered from NYC services that I haven’t felt the need to drive 20-30 minutes to a shop. I’ll go to the legal ones when they’re open in JC.

Adult-use is used as a synonym for recreational sales, as opposed to medical. It’s a weird term and I’m not sure if other states even use it.

But yeah it’s basically legal to use if you’re under 21 too lol, you can only get a written warning on first offense.

The whole situation here has been embarrassing. Only the rich MSOs have been allowed to sell for a year now, and we’re left waiting indefinitely for these small businesses to open. I want to shop at the locally owned stores, but they haven’t been allowed to open yet. The CRC also deleted some terribly snarky tweet they made about NYC, who just had their first sales at a store run by a nonprofit that works for the homeless.

Also the fact that all homegrow remains illegal is totally insane.

Supremely confused as to why there isn’t a recreational dispensary in JC yet. The whole bullshit wringer they threw all the applicants through to apply for the license seemed to be extremely over the top for no reason. Meanwhile there’s places in Fort Lee and Bloomfield that compare to places on the west coast. Make it make sense. Oh wait nvm Hudson county is just corrupt as fuck.

You are a mix of both wrong and confused. While there's obviously tons of waste shipped off to every consultant in the books, that's not limited to JC or even NJ. It's obviously bullshit that places waste so much money, but again, that's a feature of everywhere and not limited to education spending, either.

Now as to where you're flat out wrong. All school spending here in NJ goes basically by size of district. Newark is #1 at $1,118,199,359.9. JC is 2, Union City 3, etc. When you have a large district, you have large spending.

Now on a per student basis, here's where JC falls on the lists of education spending. 168th. $27,225 per student. In fairness, we should eliminate the 8 special services ones, which bumps JC up to 160. Even your guess of "about 33k" would put it at 44th in the state (36th without the services ones).

Yeah but not just kids can run around. I like the idea of being able to bring a beach towel and bringing food with a friend kinda deal. During off hours adults can also use the space for physical activity as well whether that be yoga or something like that. I would say tossing a frisbee around or something similar too but the park is usually too crowded and that would probably be a great way to pollute the Hudson even more lmao.

Although if it’s environmentally bad to be packed in I also get that but I have no idea.

Honestly, I have NO IDEA how they are getting away with it. If it is that bad that mice and rats are running around, I am really surprised that LoFi is putting up with it. But, what you describe is precisely why people are often not cool with chickens and other farm livestock kept within city limits or in close proximity to where they live. And, by the way, I say that as someone who 100% would love to keep some animals. Growing up, my paternal grandpa ran a small farm and so I got to spend a lot of time around chickens, rabbits, and pigs. Those are some fond memories, but I totally get why people would be opposed to chickens living close by.

I ask because if you’ve ever been sat in the backyard you’ll notice plenty of mice/rats running around in the bushes at the end of the yard and it’s clearly a result of them being attracted by whatever the chickens are being fed on the other side of the fence. I can’t imagine being okay with that as a neighbor if you’re trying to run a business…

(saw this piece on PIX11 News. Funny reminds me of when I was little in JC. Many people would get fresh eggs delivered to their doorstep from a NJ farm each week. At Easter time the farm would sale little live chicks. We would set up pens in our yards for them to run around. After about a week kids would get bored with them, and if they survived (sad) they would be returned to the farm. Sort of like a rental in disguise farmer probably knew they would be returned lol)

Rent The Chicken service brings hens, fresh eggs to your own backyard

MORRIS COUNTY, N.J. (PIX11) – You might not ever figure out whether the chicken or the egg came first, but it doesn’t take a philosopher to see the price of eggs has flown the coop.

“Now with the price of eggs, having your own guaranteed eggs in your backyard is great,” said chicken farmer Marlena Schilke.

One solution people are turning to? Renting chickens.

Rent The Chicken is a nationwide company, with affiliates all over the United States and Canada.

Schilke is the Northern New Jersey affiliate.

It starts with a call to the company. From there, you get set up with your local affiliate. Packages with everything you need to care for the birds start around $600 for the season, which begins in April and goes through October.
