Reply to comment by anubis2051 in Do you think a $200 electric bill for a 2 bedroom is too much? by TechnologyPale329
Depends on the type of heating. Newer electric heat pumps can very efficient for heating/cooling in our climate since we don’t have too many days where temps are consistently below 20F or so.
I’ve lived in two apartments with them and my electricity bill has rarely been over $60 even though I keep the thermostat at 68-70F whenever I’m home.

Would you? Enforce laws: you’re racist. Sit back and enjoy the show? You do nothing, despite everyone under the sun still calling you racist.
It’s hilarious reading these polls. Mind you I’m not much of a fan of cops but they’re necessary.

Isn’t that park mostly maintained by the Van Vorst Park neighborhood association?
I’m pretty sure there’s an organized group of people donating time AND money to maintain that park unlike most others around JC.
Anyways, it’s interesting to compare different parks around the city. The layout of Lafayette Park is very similar to Hamilton Park, but it’s wayyy underutilized and usually feels empty and barren compared to Hamilton Park, which ironically means that it has nicer grass.

I’ve already applied, but suspect it will fall into a black hole. I appreciate the sandwich offer! :)

This one is tricky to answer, coming from an over policed town where DWB was real and I got pulled over for nothing a lot this is heaven. But sometimes it feels like you have to commit murder to get their attention.

Ask the director of the department or the supervisor for an informational interview. Don’t push your interest in the job itself unless they bring it up. Ask them good questions about the work they do and why you’re interested in it.
Not everyone who gets a job in government is “connected.” But lots of people everywhere get their jobs because the hiring managers like them.

Yes, the pay is low but I’m less interested in the pay and more interested in being able to be a part of shaping the city, especially regarding transportation. I feel like joining the fight is the only way to really have an impact.

Last time I was at the community meeting, Fulop said that the city is very short-staffed, which is why they didn’t get to whatever the community wanted. It was a few months ago but I guess you can try to apply. It was a few months ago. He did say that the turn-over of the staff is pretty high, which most likely means they pay peanuts and you’d have to deal with the bunch of us.

It’s likely because over decades the soil became compacted for exactly that reason: kids running over it for years.

It won’t be a wonderful park if all of the plants die.

It’s not good that the soil is compacted. The park is for everyone, not just the kids. A better solution might be to give them an area to run around (although a large part of the park is already dedicated to a playground) and then put down more resilient ground cover than grass.

This is the right take. Our cops don’t brutalize the community, but they don’t do much of anything else either.

If you can make united silver cost comes down to $109. Plus $60 for any three friends so you could even resell that. Plus some credit cards cover $180 per year so you can end up making money.

A mixed bunch. Some of them are lazy and rude. Some of them are principled and responsible. In general, they're not trying to ruin your life or kill you, so I'd say above average.
