There's a handful of software things that Google does just plain better with its Pixel line. Specifically voice-to-text and spam call/text blocking, on the Pixel line they work great IME...but, the Pixel/Nexus line has always had hardware problems. I liked my 6Pro, but the 5G modem chip was last gen and my handset was one of those that ran hot on 5G. And, honestly, if I' m going to be paying iPhone prices anyway to get a decent Android--I might as well just get an iPhone. That was always the alure of Android of getting the same/better for less--but that stopped being the case a while ago.

No handset is perfect. But Apple has been supporting their handsets better for a long while in software and hardware compared to any Android OEM. My iPhone needs a new battery--I can pay nominal fee, walk into a shop, and get a new battery and not need to buy another $1000 phone because of the battery.

There's also the reality that the Android app store is poorly curated and riddled with ad/malware that goes unpoliced. Generally iPhone apps are higher quality. Although there tend to be more paywalls, the apps are more sustainable and better maintained.

That’s fair. I can see the point with quick actions. Let me change the example to better explain my point though.

  1. App icons on the Home Screen
  2. Icons in the control center
  3. Links in Safari
  4. Mail, Messages, Files, etc.

All of those also use this same functionality. It’s how most of iOS functions. A tap takes you to the tap target (app/link/etc). A hold gives you a context menu with more options.

I’d argue it’d be more confusing to most casual users for the dynamic island to function opposite the rest of their phone. However, I’m 100% in the camp of giving users the choice. Options are always best

Unless you’re keeping heat on full board continuously for hours at a time, it’s probably fine. I’ve personally used vent mounts and I have not had a single problem living in anew England, where it goes down as low as like -20. I usually only need full heat for like 3-5 min then I turn down because I’m not trying to continue to increase temperature; just get it to around 60 to 65.

To me the DI seems more aligned with a (persistent) Notification Banner so the interaction model makes sense. But I can understand how others might see it differently. However I agree with the current logic of treating it like a banner or control center item.

No, that’s interesting. Maybe you need a pair of cheater glasses. Like from the pharmacy. But if you work on a pc most of the day then use a small device or tablet. They say that can affect your eyes. What do you have the display set too? True Tone turned on or off? And is night mode turned on or off?

But it’s not a notification banner, it’s meant for quick actions, where OP is right.

The fact it acts like a notification banner is what confused my GF the first couple hours as she was wondering why only some notifications were showing there, which is a pretty fair question I thought as I’ve used my 14 more and more.

They’re the same. Also the same with the MacBook Air and Apple Watch too. I have the midnight AW7 and in sunlight it’s a very dark blue.
