I felt the same but then I tried out Apple’s leather case and it was much more manageable. Any other typical case just makes it way too big.

If your mother is setting DND or any other focus mode that is blocking your ability to contact her you should first delete all the focus modes. DND can’t be deleted, but you can set it up so that even if she accidentally enables it you are allowed to get through.
As for other settings you could try and see if ‘Screen Time’ can be used to create some restrictions. Also you may consider deleting apps, even default Apple apps, that your mom doesn’t need to simplify things for her.

Meh. I’ve had my phones stolen twice over the last decade. Thefts of phones are ramping up in general. It’d be nice that if it gets stolen I get a brand new one for free. However, I’ve never cracked a phone screen.

NextDNS and ControlD block all adds in apps for me. Various different blocklists block everything.

Never lost or had a phone stolen myself, but if that’s a risk for you then yes, a refurbished replacement will be at least $200 cheaper (maybe more) than having to buy a brand new phone.

I used the shortcuts app to crate an automation that would undo all of the things my dad did by accident. Turn of airplane mode odd, wi-fi back on, DND off, turn up volume (unfortunately you can only do media volume, not ringer,) turn up brightness, etc. He tended to over enlarge text so it would reset that. I set it to run twice a day and when he commented the charger. As for the silent switch go into her contacts and find your contact. Edit your contact ringtone and text tone (both) and toggle on "emergency bypass." Now no matter what she does to her phone, you can call her and it will ring.
Another thing you can do is set a schedule for DND to turn on and off for 1 min at different times of day and that might leave it toggled off. I'm not sure if it will just return to previous setting, though.
Here's an example of what I did on his phone. https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/bd2142db442045308031bbf03f311690
And he would mess up his phone with accessibility settings so I would run this once a day on automation. https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/f6d5ff3d039841b2b394cea7acd1268e

If you have a Mac (or access to one) you can use Apple Configurator and make a profile to disable all but the settings she needs, I'm not sure if you can disable the physical switch though (maybe put some tape over it?
There may be other free utilities that work on PC but I've never researched it.

Chrome is made by google. What incentive would they have to give you all the same features as android (also made by google). Also apple lots certain things for security and I’m sure other reasons.
This has always been the case and difference between the 2 formats. Had you been my friend and shared that these were important to you, I would never recommend you changing to iOS.
That being said you trust google with your search history and such more than apple is funny to me. Google’s whole model is selling user data for ads.
I looked up telegram is it messaging app?

Unlimited photos hasn't been a thing for a while, just pay the $10 a month for 1TB which should be more than enough.

You probably won’t loose anything on the phone, if you do not have AppleCare+ it might cost quite a lot though

I definitely recommend AppleCare+ with Theft. I have it, I ended up buying monthly as I don’t know how long I’ll keep this iPhone. I usually upgrade each year.

I understand why you made the downsize move, and I wouldn’t fault anyone for it. Heck, I did the same thing, but after 2-weeks, I decided I couldn’t jive with the smaller screen and much-worse battery life. I lucked out and found a 14 PM locally to reserve, allowing me to return my launch 14 Pro within the return window. I would’ve continually regretted the downsize move if I had stuck with the smaller Pro.

65w charging over lightning, probably not tbh... may need a cable revision for that one

i would start working with facebook to file a purchase protection claim because the seller seems to have misled you about the condition of the phone. that way if you can’t get it unlocked, at least you’re not necessarily out whatever money you paid for it

Do you have sunrise/sunset schedule on for instagram? If not then it’s definitely a software issue with the app, devs need to fix that.
How long are you playing games until it drops frames?
How much SOT are you getting with your battery? Post your usage as a screenshot, we can’t tell anything without this information.

You still emphasise my own point: It has nothing to do with USB-C. They could do 65W charging over Lightning. And they could do 20W charging via USB-C if they don’t change the charging circuitry from the current one. That’s all I’m saying.

I generally agree but to me AppleCare+ with theft and loss is worth it.

latest iphones actually do 30w too (13 pro max and 14 pro max)
No, the charging circuitry for USB-C isn't designed specifically for higher capacity batteries, that doesn't make any sense. My android phone can charge with usb-c at 65w, more than any iPad. Battery management is typically done with a battery bms attached to your iPhone's battery cell(s). There is no excuse.

With Verizon, the carrier lock is on the phones for 60 days before it is removed. Your best bet may be waiting until the lock comes off. The person probably bought it from VZW and sold it as unlocked.
