Things I miss coming from s21:

• real 120hz display. iPhone’s 120hz display is full of shit, a ton of animations run at 90hz and apple not updating them for some reason. Overall, Samsung and other androids 120hz feel significantly smoother
• mapping custom functions to double pressing the power button. it’s insane how apple only lets you have apple wallet or bullshit accessibility stuff, I loved having my flashlight bound to it
• notification/control center implementation. Combining controls of your choice with notifications coming out from swipe from any part of top of the screen is just better, and if you are on Home Screen I’d take over spotlight’s gesture for notifications any day. I also hate how in iOS you now have a literal lockscreen coming from the notification swipe, like, I don’t wanna see the giant clock with micro widgets taking half the screen when I’m already logged in. Also the ios 16 “feature” with you having to do an extra swipe to get old notifications is ridiculous
• usb-c (**** you apple)
• keyboard number row. I don’t like gboard for iOS, looks ugly and you can’t customize the time it takes for numbers to activate

Things I don’t miss/are overrated about android:

• split screen. Tiny ass smartphone screens just feel unnatural for it imo
• theme customization. I gave them a shot, always ended up coming back to stock.

Actual reasons why I switched to iPhone:

• AirPods
• mac connectivity goodies
• car only supports CarPlay
• iOS aesthetically is better than one ui, one ui’s dark theme looks bad.
• prefer iOS default apps to Samsung/google (except calculator, iOS calculator is dog****)

You know when you go to find a recipe, and the website is littered with ads, as you scroll the page jumps around, so annoying! With Paprika you use the share button to import the recipe into a much easier to read and use format! Plus it allows you to store and rate the recipes, as well as have a inventory of your pantry, and even make shopping lists!

It’s hands down my favourite app I have ever spent money on!

Yeah, my unfortunate assumption is that he is leaving his iPhone at work and forwarding his calls to his Android. That way, if his wife were to check, his location would be at work. When in reality he could be…anywhere else.

2 iPhones here: iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13 Pro. My work involves a lot of calls and emails, along with travelling using maps/podcasts/audiobooks while driving.

I have been using the Pro because of the screen size and battery champ, but honest, when I walk and have to use one hand, it is scary how big the Pro is. You can’t swipe through emails to delete because you risk dropping the phone. Benefits for me on the bigger phone: the 120hz display is just awesome; the screen size helps when I need to look at spreadsheets, charts, documents, etc; battery is good, left with 30% evenings after heavy use; I don’t take photos, so camera doesn’t matter; and that’s about it!

Honestly thinking of swapping back to use the mini for work, the battery never died in one day with heavy use and if I need to see a spreadsheet it’s probably more useful to look at it on the laptop, right ?

If they ever come up with iPhone mini with 90 or 120hz display, I’ll pay extra for it. It’s the dream phone !

I remember when Apple originally went to the 16:9 aspect ratio on their phones and they made a marketing video saying it “fits your hand” or some other bullshit. Thing is, it was and still is marketing. Ergonomic design when dealing with hands is not a one size fits all approach and peoples hands are different sizes. Don’t buy into the marketing from any company.

Since it’s an insurance, treat it like one. Do you usually insure stuff like this?

I only buy insurance to cover damages that I could not cover myself. Statistically, this is the cheapest way. Because in the end, the insurance company makes money, so customers pay more than they get out.

So as long as you don’t have a reason why you have a significantly higher risk of damage than the average guy, I wouldn’t recommend it.

But that’s just my mindest about insurance. Others like the warm and fuzzy feeling of being protected, and are willing to pay for it. Also a valid way to go.

The S21 Ultra also has really slow ass charging speeds compared to anything but the Pixel, which is somehow even slower.

I called my carrier they asked me to insert my sim into another device and it worked on the device so it’s probably something with my phone or iOS 16.1 bug, anyways thanks alot, lets see how the scheduled call with Apple goes tomorrow. Hope its not some hardware issue.

I install a good screen protector and a case the second I take the phone out of the box. Never bought apple care before and never regretted, my phones have been pristine for their entire lifetimes. Also, If you are concerned about money, then perhaps you shouldn’t have bought an apple leather case, Amazon 25 dollar silicone cases hold up their looks far better than leather

You don't know what people care about, and it's laughable to jump to the conclusion you have. Maybe they care more about fitting in? Maybe they get sold by the marketing? Recommend limiting your assumptions. This is a good practice to win more arguments.

I miss Android Auto and bluetooth choosing not to work at random times. Keeps you on your toes.
