I work for a Verizon retailer so i may be wayyy off but If one of the phones is paid for it should be unlocked or at least you should be able to unlock it. Also usually first bill is a lot higher because of activation fees so maybe next bill will be lower. I always tell everyone to stay tf away from 3rd party hourly workers like Sam’s, Walmart, Best Buy ect. Because they don’t pay the reps enough to care or to know how to do their job properly.

Don’t hold back on upgrading based on rumors. The only rumor that Apple has openly confirmed, is that USB-C is coming. BUT, they have until autumn 2024, so the iPhone 15 could still very well have Lightning. Any other rumor is just someone blabbing.
If you like the iPhone 14 lineup, and you want a new phone, just go for it. I you’ll enjoy the phone.

My wife went from a X to a mini she loves won't get rid of it. She's mad because she knows it's only going to last so long unless Apple decides to bring it back.

That’s for sure! The camera is a huge upgrade and the pro motion plus screen quality are a huge improvement

Only the carrier can unlock them. So you signed a contract? Tell I would call AT&T and keep asking for supervisors that can do something. At least let you out of the contract or unlock the phones or something. Even though they were sold by another company, AT&T handles the payments and the phones and the contracts.

I went from the 11 Pro to 13 Mini. The 11 Pro wasn’t really a “big” phone, but the switch was enough that I’ll never go back to a big phone. I love the new phone. My wife’s regular 11 feels like a damn tablet.

You can get an iPhone 14 with a Sim card. You just have to go outside the states which I would suggest that as much as people say eSIM is easier it’s just another means of keeping you in the garden

I’ve heard about this issue on a podcast. Pretty sure this is a carrier limitation.

Not what was asked, but I did near the opposite here. Had big phones in the past, went to iPhone XS, then 13 Mini, and just got the 14 Pro Max. Absolutely love the larger size and wish I had done it sooner. Can't imagine going back. (Worth noting I have very large hands, so the bigger size doesn't feel like a tablet).

I switched from the X to the 12 Mini. Tbh honest I hated it. The battery experience was horrific. Disliked using the 12 mini so much I upgraded to the 14. Wasn’t planning on originally upgrading till the 15 or 16.

Went from iPhone XS to the SE3 and I love it. The only thing I miss is the bigger screen overall but I do not miss the weight on the XS. I may try the Max version next.

I went from XS Pro Max to 11 pro and it was great. Loved the smaller size and that I could one hand the phone perfectly. Life was awesome for the past 3 years. Then I got 14 Pro Max recently. Decided having the bigger screen is awesome because it also gives you a bigger on screen keyboard. I have noticed I’m making less typing mistakes with the bigger keyboard. The extra screen real estate has been nice too.

I’ll be working out these issues in Latin America in a few months, except even if I buy a 14 I have an older iphone I can use. It’s worth checking with specific countries, but countries like Mexico might be fine for popping a foreign sim in an older iphone.
Or…if you travel that much, maybe buy a cheaper second one as a travel phone, which can have some security/privacy pluses, too.

Who has 8 hour phone calls?
I don’t want to be on the phone for 8 minutes, let alone 8 hours, lol
Could be a carrier issue though.
