I think the primary benefit of ProRaw processing is computational photography stacking images for noise reduction that ends up superior to post-process noise reduction algorithms. Something I primarily notice in astrophotography. And it's not surprising in a way, given how much computational photography goes into making pictures look good on sensors this small. It becomes much less necessary in daylight photos and just doing straight raw is definitely preferable then if you don't want processing.

That part on sensor size (and quality) leads to the next part that more addresses OP's concern though, which is I've seen it put out there that the 14's biggest problem may actually be the improvement in the sensor - Apple may not have backed off the computational side enough to account for the physical camera improvements, resorting to a similar process as is used on previous cameras that now results in an overprocessed look.

Unfortunately, I don't see that improving - Apple seems to just leave each generation of camera as is, even the software side when they would be perfectly capable of adding features from newer generations of phone to older ones in ios, but just wait for you to buy the newer product instead.

You can often find the official Apple clear MagSafe case on sale on Amazon if that is what you prefer, however the Apple case isn’t that great for protection. I am currently using the NEW LifeProof Next case w/Magsafe compatibility and it’s been great! You can find that on Amazon as well for fairly cheap, just make sure you get the Magsafe compatible version. Good luck!

I held off on a new iPhone with a notch for as long as I could due to my extreme hatred of it. Eventually had to give in because my job wouldn’t let me keep my 7 when it stopped getting updates and forced me into a 12 and the new SE wasn’t on our plan.

As others have said, you get used to it after a while. What helped me was switching to dark mode so the notch is less noticeable on most apps and using a screen saver that ā€œhidesā€ the notch by using something dark at the top of the screen. It’s been about 6 months and I’m still not sold but it’s not as bad as I thought it would be.

Given how horribly raped the earth is about to get over the next decade or so due to the push to save car companies with electric cars, a few people out there putting iPhones on their wall isn’t going to make a pinch of shit of difference. Let the person enjoy his little project. The earth will be dead either way.

I plan on getting a second phone, I love Android too much to give it up but I also want an iPhone.

I've been telling myself to wait for the USB-C iPhone 15 but I def do not have the money for that. Should I enter one of those - get a new iphone every year contracts or something? Or get an iphone xr? I havent had an iphone since the 4

The iPhone 14 is a step backwards along with iOS 16. This feels a lot like the Touch Bar and butterfly keyboard on the MacBook. I hope they put the Apple train on reverse and make it right with the 15.

This. I am a progressive as fuck millennial, I’m all for almost anything that helps the planet. But when I am at 40% battery and my phone charges by 3% in an hour before going out, it pisses me off. Just found out about it and turned it off.
