Hello everyone! Just want your thoughts on a few things.

My current situation: IPhone 7 Plus since 2018 - battery health 75% and thinking of buying a new iPhone.

First case scenario buying a second hand iPhone 12 Pro Max with 84% battery health for 620 USD ( currently have 700 usd budget) would that be a good deal? I plan on using the phone for the next 5-7 years. I also plan on replacing the battery for 100 usd in an Apple approved shop which would cost me 100 USD.

A couple of questions: 1.) should I pull the trigger? Is a 12 pro max gonna be good? 2.) Is it possible to have the 13 pro max battery out into the 12 pro max? 3.) should I just continue to save money to get a 13 pro max eventually for 1,140 USD? 4.) What are the things I need to look out for when buying a second hand phone becuase this will be my first one?

Thank you everyone! Ill appreciate any reply that would help me current situation.

I would get rid of the battery or replace it with a fake. I have an old iPhone 3GS that was basically sitting around for many years at zero charge and was kind of confused to find the Otterbox case popping open when I dug it up one day. Opened up the Otterbox to find the rear of it had swelled considerably. It's not like it spontaneously combusted on me or anything, and it's still fine, but since you're framing this and it could fall down randomly or something when the battery is old and maybe swells, I wouldn't take the risk.

Does this person work in any way with a communications company or is very tech savvy?

Here is my eli5:

You can track cell phones by looking at the towers they are talking to. Cell phones are always in the background connecting and switching from tower to tower. Thee current tower(s) your phone is connected to is stored on the network so when someone tries to call / text you, the call / text can be routed to the right tower and you can answer.

Now during the process of making a call, the person calling can follow all the steps right up to the one that would complete the call and make your phone ring. By stopping before your phone rings, they can get the tower that would have made the last part of the call and your general location without you ever knowing about it

Source: managed and built a system that did exactly this for consumer measurement about 10 years ago using SS7 protocols. I think some of this might have been patched, but the general vulnerability remains if you have the right connectivity (very difficult for an individual, only providers should have this access).

I reset my statistics before I sent that and 100 mb of data was used by messaging services. Ticking up with every message. Obviously it SHOULDN’T be taking up that much space and data is getting over counted or something. Something’s bugging out.

No need to be so contrary. I understand that it doesn’t take 100mb to send that information, something is clearly malfunctioning.

Sorry for the late reply. Yes. You could save it to iCloud Drive then delete it off the photos app. They would remain in your iCloud Drive. You could make a folder in your drive and name it something like “photo library” and dump all the photos there or if you want to organize a bit you can date them like “Photos 2018” and then just move photos from that year there.
