Apple has pretty good tutorials/step by step guides in various settings and services on/around their iPhones on their website. Pretty easy to understand imo - check them out.

When you create your iCloud account make sure to note everything down on a piece of paper and store that in a secure place (in case you forget your password or whatever). Account recovery can be a pain…

If you have a PC/Mac I strongly suggest doing local backups. So even if you lose access to your phone/iCloud you still have access to photos, contacts and all that.

Do you have the proper sized SIM (nano)?

Consider getting a protective case and foil. Saved my phone twice from a costly repair.

If I am not mistaken the 12 comes without a charging brick. So get gone as well as a lightning to USB cable.

It’s $800. I had a Spigen Tough Armor case and glass screen protector delivered before I even got the phone.

She’s taking some hard hits and falls and the case ate all the damage.

Yes. To function properly the phone needs a working battery. Usually if it's just degraded down to 80% or whatever, the battery is still very functional - you just won't get much out of it before needing to recharge.

If the battery has developed some sort of fault or has a failed cell or has super degraded or whatever, then yeah it can cause a multitude of issues, because the phone isn't designed to operate with such a battery, whatever the mode.

No. FaceID/fingerprint data are stored in each iPhone's secure enclave and are not saved anywhere else.

Apple IDs are not meant to be shared. This is just the beginning of the problems you will have by sharing Apple IDs. Family sharing is how you manage a set of Apple IDs in a family; do not use shared Apple IDs for that.

Also, with the Home app, you don't need to use family sharing with it (although you should). You can invite non-family members to use your Home app, although you'll have to decide is this is wise.

Separate Apple ids.

Then whoever keeps the current account starts a family sharing group and invites the seconds account and turns in purchase sharing.

With two separate ids you won’t ah e issues location sharing.

Plus you may run into other issues in the future if two people charge the same Id.

I have AppleCare + on my iPhone 13 Pro Max but I still use a case. I always have. I will only use one type of case OtterBox. The Defender. I have had my phones fall off roofs, been thrown across a room, stepped on, etc. They have always been fine. Except once. Ran over my X with a lawn mower. Apple care sent me a new one. So I recommend both. It’s worth it to protect your money.

Can you point me to a specific claim of sturdiness in an ad?

All smart phones that have Qi charging (which is practically all of them, including the version of Qi charging Apple calls “MagSafe”) will have to have either a glass or plastic back so the magnetic field of the charger can “couple” to the coil in the back of the phone to transfer power to it. It’s inescapable.

Hmmmm, alright you guys convinced me, I'll get a case for it as well just to be on the safe side. Cause the last thing I want is for the screen and sides to end up like my Lg XD

Get a case. They personalise your phone as well as giving it some protection. Cases these days make the phone more grippy and are quite slim so not adding much bulk to the overall size. No good reason not to use a case if you have the cash to buy one.

I’ve been using my iPhone 13 Pro without a case for about 1.5 years now, I just put one on when traveling or doing other things where I feel like it’s more likely that I’m gonna drop it. It still looks like new apart from a few scratches on the front glass and on the frame. I’d still recommend buying a case to use in some situations.
