I’ve owned several models of iPhone (3G, 4, 5s, 6s, 8), encased all of them, dropped each multiple times, even on concrete—and never broken a single one. You need a case.

The fronts and backs of iPhones are glass, and glass can still break when struck hard enough.

I respect your willingness to learn technology given you’re an older gentleman. I know some people your age who program but I also know many your age who just walk around barely knowing how to use their phones/computer etc.

There’s so much potential on the devices. It’s like a magic little pocket pool that can do and tell you whatever you want. I’m sure from the time you were a kid until now has been quite exciting.

Google drive's free. It may have a limit just like icloud, but it's better than icloud. Also you get to choose which one to back up. Unlike with icloud, you have no idea what they backed up coz you can't technically see them all other than the percentage of how much files, photos, apps and such.

So for photos and vids and important files, i put them in google drive. Delete them afterwards, and the rest i let icloud do the work.

I learned my lesson when my ipod touch then was stolen, i bought an iphone and realized many of my notes, screenshots of reviewers, along with photos of important events wasn't saved in icloud but a lot of junk photos(memes, pinterest...you get the idea) was backed up.

Apple approves the apps. So they approve of audio hijacking by not only Facebook, but other apps as well without providing a native way to override this.

You can blame Facebook if you want, but I buy my phone from Apple and it’s the platform that should prevent the apps it allows on their platform to perform certain functions that causes a negative user experience. I blame Apple.
