Fair point, I did equate plugged in to charging.

Thing is - I am using the Apple USB C charger with an an Apple C to Lightning cable.

Once the phone shut down, I plugged it in without starting it up first - obviously it started up once battery was sufficient and it seems the issue has gone away.

No to water contact, phone is barely a month old and I’ve babied it.

I’m suspecting a software bug of some sort, but not sure.

That doesn’t actually mean “charging”, just “plugged in”. Which 99% times means the same. But it could mean you are getting very low power. This could be from the wire or the charger.

This is common on iPads pro, when working hard and plugged in using not optimal charger.

Also, it happens with any device connected to a low power USB from a computer.

What charger are you using? Have your device been in contact with water prior to the charge?

Had it charging twice, first time I thought it was charging but realized it wasn’t actually going up - so I restarted my phone and plugged it in overnight.

Woke up this morning to use my phone and it dies on me.

Once plugged in while turned off, that’s when it finally started charging normally.

Anyone else experience this?

Graph shows charging but % doesn’t increase.

At the moment, yeah - over the years it's been generally trending upwards, with every other generation gaining a year up to the 5. It's been a little less predictable lately, but still trending up - 5s and 7 got six years, 6 got five years, and 6s got seven years. Remains to be seen whether they'll keep going up in future - I wouldn't be shocked to see the A11 devices dropped this year, which would put them at six years, given how many features they've been left out of over the past few releases.

But also worth noting is the 5s and up are still getting security updates, which is pretty exceptional. That's over nine years of at least some support at this point.
