You’ve been told multiple times: If, for any reason, Lost Mode remains pending indefinitely, the device will still be activation locked so long as you do not remove it from your Apple ID account nor provide the device passcode or your Apple ID credentials to anyone.

Even if they’re able to wipe the device (via DFU or Recovery Mode) before Lost Mode is activated, your personal data will be removed and it will still be activation locked.

Hey. A few years back Apple introduced a feature called “Automatic Switching” if all the devices are on the same iCloud account, when you’re done using iPhones and pick an iPad, it should switch automatically. Even if it doesn’t work, you don’t need to disconnect AirPods from iPhone to connect to iPad. While AirPods are connected to iPhones Just go to Control Centre on iPad, tap and hold Bluetooth so a list of available devices shows up. Then choose AirPods. They will connect to iPad and disconnect from iPhones. I do this all the time between my Mac and iPhone.

Assuming you're using same iCloud account on same devices then it can connect automatically when you pick up the device (when they're in your ears) when you enable that feature it's there under AirPods settings. Also, you don't have to disconnect a device to pair with another.

Lost mode is more for securing your data, and aiding in getting your phone back from an honest person. It won't prevent wiping of the phone in iTunes. But in which case your data will be wiped and also the phone will still be activation locked. Without your password, they will not be able to use the phone, because it will be activation locked.

That's why in some higher level scams, they try and phish the password from you, so they can remove the lock. Again be wary of fraudulent emails, Apple will never ask you for your passwords etc.
