I'm actually about to go test the LCD-X tomorrow and probably buy them... How are you finding the weight after a few days?
I'm not expecting to really like them in store until I get them home and EQ them exactly like my DT 1990 Pros (which I was about to return before I taught myself to EQ)

I agree. With the HD line I feel like I am putting a bag over my head. Or the sound is 'hot' or some such ridiculous analogy. Some people don't notice it, and others feel it is a feature not a bug.

I hear a lot of good things about the different Sony ier models so I hope to demo them someday, as it’s 1500 aud and not willing to spend that much at the moment but all ba and maybe est is something to look into

What's the best wireless earbuds I can get with (preferably) 50$? I'm willing to go up to 65$.
I'll mostly be using it when I go to the gym or for a jog connected to my phone(Samsung Galaxy A52s) so something that doesn't fall out would be preferred.
Am currently using a Soundcore Life Q30 for most of the things I do but I'd like to get a pair of wireless earbuds as well.
Just looking for something with standard good sound and decent ANC. Would not like sticks.

Definitely not in the financial position to be spending nearly 2500 aud on an iem but if I ever get a chance to demo, I will, thanks

Try all BA iem like sony ier m9 you will be amazed by how good the sound isolation is

I do have regret, but it's "learning experience", since I'm more interested in the gears (and reviewing them) than the music itself.
I imagine I would regret some kilobuck purchases due to incredible performance of the sub $500 IEMs this year. The IEM market moves so fast that buying kilobuck IEM is a risky move if you can't audition widely and carefully.

if you have an iphone, i’d definitely recommend apple over tidal. its android app is a little choppy
sadly its recommendation system is absolute garbage compared to spotify’s, but what can you do

You would probably like the unique melody mest, but that's endgame territory.

>a wow factor comes from something being over done, whether it’s soundstage, treble etc
based as fuck, and very well said
the “wow factor” that people mention with the hd6x0 series only really occurs when people go from their beats or $20 earphones to a proper headphone for the very first time. i’m sure of this — especially considering the hd600 and hd650 are the most popular choices when it comes to reference open-backs
my r70x also sounds just right. it’s insanely neutral. yet i still experienced the “wow factor” purely because i’d never heard good sound before. i would’ve experienced the same thing if i’d went with an hd650 instead, but if i were to buy one now i’d probably feel like i wasted my money.
diminishing returns are huge in this hobby. it’s kinda crazy how some people just aren’t aware of that

Totally. Switched to AKG 712s when my X2s broke, ordered a custom XLR to 3.5mm for my boompro mic... Then the adapter broke and I found a pair of X2HR on sale for half price 😄

This was my experience trying the 6xx coming from an Arya Stealth. At first, I couldn't stand listening to them due to their small soundstage, but after a couple of days I got used to it and was able to appreciate them for what they were. Eventually, I couldn't throw the Aryas back on; it turned out I much preferred the Sennheiser tonality over the Arya's. For my music preferences (music with vocals essentially), the 6xx was a much better match.
I did prefer listening to instrumental music through the Hifimans, but I realized I only listened to those genres as much as I did because I had the them. Once I got the 6xx, instrumentals became again a small portion of my listening time, and thus I could no longer justify keeping the Arya and I returned them.

are you lost
the hd6xx came out like 6 years ago and they’re based on a 20 year old headphone

My only regret is that I don't have the time to listen to each headphone in my collection enough. I have a few different ones that I use for different situations and I love them all but I feel guilty when I don't feel like I am spending enough time with each one. There's an argument that maybe a smaller collection, or even just one headphone, would solve that dilemma, but I really enjoy trying new gear.

It's affordable, with real lossless (on my DAP, I can see the bitrate jumping up and down as I change sound quality). Dolby Atmos can be hit or miss, but when it hits, it's quite fun. I use Apple Music across iPhone, Android DAP, and my windows laptop. Unless you have problem with Apple itself, there is no problem with this streaming service.
